On Wednesday, August 16th, 2023 Arkadeus Eugene Evans, age 50, beloved father, son, brother, and friend, passed away from post-Covid pulmonary fibrosis while celebrating his birthday in Madrid, Spain. He is preceded in death by his precious daughter Lauren, grandparents Ella and Roy, niece Kistasia and nephew Kimarion.

Arkadeus, aka “KK”, was born on July 20th, 1973 in Chicago, Illinois. He was raised in San Antonio, Texas with his mother and seven siblings. He was a vibrant and outgoing young man who loved reading, hanging out with friends, and skateboarding. In 1993 at the age of 20, he enlisted in the United States Navy. Arkadeus served ten years as a hospital corpsman earning many awards and merits for his service.

Arkadeus and his family later moved to California while he pursued his career as a surgical technician with California Pacific Medical Center. He would eventually settle down in Sacramento, working with Novato Community Hospital and working per diem with Kaiser. He spent almost 25 years doing what he loved. Throughout his career, he achieved many accomplishments including traveling abroad to help those in need and obtaining his Bachelor's degree in Psychology while working full-time. Arkadeus was loved and respected by many; his colleagues looked to him as a leader and consistently recognized his skill and professionalism in the operating room. He was an amazing coworker, mentor, and friend.

He was an avid reader with a deep love of writers ranging from James Baldwin to Stephen King and George R. R. Martin. He loved traveling the world, exploring museums, and adventuring with his loved ones. He was a self-professed “nerd” who loved everything from anime to Star Wars. He had a keen interest and love for African-American history, music, and culture, as made evident by his extensive art, music, and literature collections. In addition to his artistic hobbies, he was an excellent chef and mixologist, known to appreciate “bougie” whisky or wine. He also loved sports including playing golf or watching basketball and football, always rooting for his Texas teams. No matter what he was doing, he could almost always be found being the center of attention wherever he was or relaxing with a drink in his hand and enjoying the comfort of his home.

Above all else, Arkadeus was a devoted father who loved his children beyond measure. He always said he “loved being a dad” and considered his children the most important thing in his life. Anyone who knew him always heard about his “babies” and how proud he was as a father. He was an amazing dad who would do everything for his children, and his endless love and pride for his kids made him who he was. His goofy jokes, his laugh, smile, support, and strong hugs will be forever cherished and missed deeply by all who loved him.

Arkadeus will always be remembered and his legacy will continue on in the lives of his family and friends. He is survived by his beloved mother Sandra Jackson Neal, his children Geordan Silveria, Tae Evans, Kayla Evans, Arkadeus Evans Jr., Benjamin Evans Eleanor Evans, brothers Lajon Elliott, Martez Evans, Paschal Evans, Toddrick Neal, Maurio Neal, and Nathaniel Neal, sisters Tamika Quinn and Kimberly Quinn, granddaughters Olivia Silveria and Lillian Silveria, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
