Anne Moore

October 3rd, 1931 - March 27th, 2020
Anne-Louise Angel Moore was born in Hue, Vietnam to missionary parents. Her mother was reading "Raggedy Anne" to her sister, Betty, and brother, George and they wanted to name her "Raggedy Anne." She had 6 siblings.
Anne graduated from Nyack High School and then graduated from The Missionary Training Institute (now Nyack College,) with a degree in Music. While at college, Anne was busy singing solo concerts, being vice president of Senior class and working head table waitress in the college dining room. She also met her future husband, David Moore. They were married on June 8, 1953.
After college, Anne lived in Iowa while David pastored, then on to Dallas while he finished his MDiv at Dallas Theological Seminary. Anne kept busy working various jobs until she and her husband were called to be missionaries in Indonesia, March of 1963. While in Indonesia they were gifted with their one and only son, Daniel Wesley, in 1964. Time in Indonesia was spent in Kalimantan and at Jaffray School of Theology in Makassar, Sulawei. In Indonesia Anne started out as a teacher and then made her way to her real love of music making and creative freedom. You can still find her compositions and poems being sung and read to this day.
Anne and her small family were called back to the states in 1975 so Dave could teach at The Alliance Theological Seminary in Nyack, NY. Before starting at ATS the Moore family spent a year in California where Dave worked on his Doctorate and Anne took classes in art and photography. Later he was appointed the Alliance Vice President for Overseas Ministries, a term of 9 years. During this time, Anne was hired as the Art Director for the Alliance Life, and later, did graphics for the the Religious Broadcaster magazine. Anne went on to do many projects for C&MA presidents, including the books, "All for Jesus" and "To All Peoples." She also used another one of her gifts through all the years of interior decorating at the various Nyack College campuses: several presidents' offices, lobbys, the chapels, hallways, archival displays, etc. She even helped do flowers for over 30 weddings, including her own sons. In 1990, she was presented the Angel Award for her work on the video called, The New Americas (focusing on the Cambodian and Vietnamese refugees coming to America) and in 1992 she was named Nyack College's Alumnus of the Year for service to the Christian and Missionary Alliance. She was a perfectionist and loved to let the light of the Lord shine through all that she touched!
Dave and Anne retired to the Alliance Community in Deland, Florida in 2000. Anne continued to use her talents and skills in graphics, both within the community and outside, by redecorating and uplifting the community Chapel and designing and creating a whole line of inspirational cards. She received the Chapel Volunteer of the Year in 2018. Anne always loved to go into the "city" of Deland to mix with all ages and all diversity. She lived a life that brought her much freedom to use her creative, artistic gifts.
Anne is survived by her son, Daniel Wesley Moore and his wife since 1988, Stephanie. They have two daughters, Samantha Aunee (1998) and Isabella Grace (2007.) Both girls have their "Omah's" artist talents and loved their grandmother very much.
