Memorial

Mementos

For as long as we live, she too will live, for she is now a part of us as, we remember her.

An angel born on December 20th, 2002. Amena was the gift from God to our souls.

Amena spent her childhood in Eastern Ghouta, Syria, where the war was at its peak. The war marked her childhood tragically. She saw her friends killed in front of her because of the bombing.

When she moved to Lebanon as a refugee , Amena participated with the Team Hope, a robotics team of Syria. They won the first level in Lebanon and then went on to win the inspirational award in the U.S. where she participated with VEX for robotic competitions throughout the world.

Smart and gifted, one of Amena's great joys was school. She was always a harder worker and did well at school. After moving to Canada, Amena was a student at St.Joseph college school TCDSB.

Amena had a strong artistic side. She wrote poems and did many plays on the stage. She played the violin very well.

However her blood disease affected her energy and she was always tired. Regular transfusions were a source of pain. In the end her transplant and trials did not go well, and complications with medications led to her death at Sick Kids hospital.

Two weeks before she died Amena was accepted at Western University to study as a Dietician. Amena had always hoped to finish school and begin earning money to help people who have the blood disorder known as thalassemia in Idlib, northern Syria.

A beautiful life, ended too soon. Amena will be missed by many.
