Amber B. Mandis of Costa Mesa, California, passed away on November 18, 2023, at the age of 82. She was born in Lantana, Florida, on March 7, 1941, to the late Bill and Margaret Easton, and was the youngest of three daughters. She moved to southern California as a young adult where she completed her nursing degree at Chaffey College. She lived most of her adult life in California except for a couple of years in beautiful Honolulu, Hawaii. Amber was a dedicated nurse for over 40 years and truly cared for people. She worked at several hospitals, including one in Honolulu, before settling at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach. In the year 2000, she earned the distinct title “Nurse of the Year” from Hoag Hospital. which was an exceptional achievement. Amber retired from nursing in 2010, eager to actively enjoy her retirement years. Amber was a beloved mother, nana, great-nana, girlfriend and friend. She was very generous with both her time and her money, especially with those she loved. She was very active throughout her life and especially enjoyed yoga classes, sitting on the beach, taking long walks in nature, going to the movies, and playing card games with her friends. She attended church at Calvary Chapel in Costa Mesa. She was an avid Mighty Ducks hockey fan. Amber also enjoyed eating out and would go to great lengths to find the best key lime pie! Traveling was one of Amber’s favorite hobbies. She was often going to Vail, Colorado with her boyfriend of 20 years, Dieter. Other trips included visiting the European countries of Germany, Austria, Italy, and Switzerland with Dieter, and to Costa Rica with her sister, Jackie. She faithfully made trips annually to the East Coast to spend time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. For her 80th birthday, her family traveled to Panama City, Florida to celebrate her special day. Amber was preceded in death by her older sisters, Jackie Murray, and Edna Gilliard. She will be lovingly remembered by her boyfriend, her two sons, Michael (Maria) of Southern Shores, NC, and Daniel (Amy) of Nashville, TN, her grandchildren , Sarah (William), Zachary, Taylor, Jake, Leah, her great-granddaughter, Novah, and her nieces, nephews, and friends. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed. We will cherish our memories of her.
