Allen Vigil “Alan", 65, of La Loma, Taos, NM, passed away, November 19, 2015 at his home, surrounded by family. Allen was born to the late Bences and Fabiola Vigil. Ben and Fabby also raised four other sons, James (d.) (Gloria), Jerome (Kitty), Mario (Carla), Keith (Liz). Allen is preceded in death by his older brother; James, infant brother; Marcus Allen, parents; Bences and Fabiola Vigil, maternal grandparents, Luciano and Floraida Martinez, paternal grandparents; Juan Nepomuceno and Domitila Vigil. Allen attended Taos area schools, where he excelled in academics and athletics, including Central Catholic and Taos High, where he graduated in 1967. Allen went on to the University of New Mexico, where he completed his Bachelor's Degree in Regional and Community Planning. On June 28, 1974 he married Geraldine of Albuquerque, and brought her to Taos to raise a family and serve his community. Together, they raised six children: Ariana Delmerico (Paul), Jenina Daugherty (Sean), Natalia Vigil, Alicia Vigil (Jake), Alanna Vigil (Damon), Marcos Vigil. Allen served Taos through his implementation of Master Planning and Community Design; employed by the Town of Taos and Taos County Governments. Later in life, Allen went back to UNM, where he earned his Master's Degree in Public Administration. Honored many times, Allen earned numerous awards for his dedication to Taos. Some of which include, the 2011 "Historian of the Year" by the Taos County Historic Society, and "Allen Vigil Day" (May 10, 2011), designated by Town of Taos. From designation and preservation of historic landmarks, to playing annually at the "Fiestas de Taos", he believed strongly in celebrating the treasures Taos has to offer. One of the traits Allen will be remembered for, is his beautiful music, playing in the Zozobra, the Zorbas, Vito y Alan, and Fuego Bands, and of course, the San Francisco de Asis Catholic Parish choir for over 37 years. Allen and Choir, recently completed a project he held dear, "Hazme Instrumento de tu Paz", a CD of traditional Spanish hymns for the San Francisco Parish. He worked very hard to support his large family, often working as Planner by day and a Musician at night. But his true passion, was his love for his wife, children and grandchildren, Briana Torres (Carlos), Adelina Tafoya, Allen-John Delmerico, and Evan and Sloane Deveaux. Alan and I were childhood friends and continued our friendship into high school and beyond. At a very early age, Alan and I would meet at La Loma on our way to serve daily mass for the nuns at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. We continued being altar boys for several years. One particular time as I was learning how to serve, it was my turn to ring the bell at the offeratory. Alan was my teacher and told me to look at him and when he nodded his head, I should ring the bell. I didnt take my eyes off of him and he seemed to be making a lot of nodding moves, so I would ring the bell. Finally, one of the nuns came and took the bell away from me, Alan and I could not stop laughing. I love you buddy. See you at holy communion, friend.

We are so saddened to hear of Allens passing. He was a very special man and primo to us. We loved him and his music that he shared so willingly. We were honored to have him and his band play at our MARTNEZ/CORTEZ Family Reunion in 1909. He left us with so many wonderful memories..we will miss him. Joe, Isabel and family.
