Alison Szabo

Alison Mary (Parker) Szabo passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at Delta Hospital. She was born on November 26, 1964 in Croydon, England, to William and Anita (Egan) Parker. Her family moved to Canada when she was six years old and settled in Tsawwassen. She was proud to be an SDSS '82 grad. In 1993, Alison married Paul Szabo and they had three children: Maria, Patrick and Brendan. Alison was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer in 2009 and she fought valiantly against the disease for 12 years. Alison believed that even though she had cancer, cancer didn't have her. Throughout her full life, she enjoyed going to soccer, rugby and lacrosse games, cheering for her friends and family on the field. Alison loved getting dressed up for costume parties, seeing her favourite musicians in concert and sharing joy and laughter with her beloved family. She is survived by her two sisters Lisa (Kenneth) and Maureen (Joseph), sister-in-law Maureen (Stephen), husband, children, cousins and many nieces and nephews. Her family is comforted by the idea that she is at peace in heaven with her parents and big brother Stephen. For those who wish to join us in honouring Alison's marvellous life, funeral services will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday, November 23rd at Sacred Heart Parish in Delta. COVID protocols will be observed. Loved by many for her big heart, Alison put much of her time and money towards causes that she supported. So, in lieu of flowers, please consider taking after Alison and making a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society at cancer.ca -- and remember to have hope as she always did.
