In loving Memory of Alice Stritzinger, Beloved Bibliophile, Culinary Artist, and Devoted Alumna of the College of William & Mary.   With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Alice Jean Stritzinger, born on July 28, 1936, in Struthers, Ohio. On March 18, 2024, Alice peacefully passed away surrounded by her husband of more than 60 years, John William Stritzinger, and her children Jane, John, and Maximilian. Alice was also the cherished mother-in-law to Stefan Ott, Angie Stritzinger, and Katja Stritzinger and the beloved grandmother of Elke, Ursula, Annabell, and Asbjorn. As the daughter of Victor and Gladys Eck, her journey began in the heart of Ohio, but her impact stretched beyond its borders. After graduating in 1958 from the esteemed College of William and Mary, she dedicated some years to instilling her passion for English, literature, and history in numerous students in Ohio, Washington D.C., and Florida, before devoting herself to raising her family in Michigan. Those acquainted with Alice Stritzinger would attest to her unique style, whether socializing, crafting culinary delights, or sharing great tales—her presence was unmistakably Alice. As a voracious reader, she adorned her historic Italianate home with countless books that served as inspiration for her own children’s academic pursuits. Renowned among her friends and the local community, Alice’s culinary prowess shone brightest when she hosted unforgettable dinner parties filled with delicious meals and heartwarming conversations. In the words of “Crossing the Bar” by Alfred Tennyson, whom Alice respected:  'Sunset and evening star,       And one clear call for me! And may there be no moaning of the bar,       When I put out to sea,      But such a tide as moving seems asleep,       Too full for sound and foam, When that which drew from out the boundless deep  Turns again home.     Twilight and evening bell,       And after that the dark! And may there be no sadness of farewell,

When I embark;      For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place       The flood may bear me far, I hope to see my Pilot face to face       When I have crost the bar.'   A commemorative event honoring the life of Miss Alice will be announced soon. May she find eternal peace.
