Way back in 1983 or thereabouts i joined the instructional staff at the Leicestershire Aero Club. It was there that i first met Alan, a regular face at the club, a delightful accommodating chap with a true zest for flying. Fast forward a couple of years and Alan & Peter Green had established both G & B Aviation & also Aerocharter Midlands at Coventry Airport. Now with a shiny new Commercial Pilots Licence i was approached by Alan & Pete to join the Aerocharter fold, of course i leapt at the opportunity. I had been gifted that first Commercial flying break that i had long yearned for and it was now within my grasp. Alan duly accepted the challenge of my training and thinking it would be a straight forward formality was soon proven otherwise! I clearly had a lot more to learn and started here. Alans professionalism left no stone unturned and that early introduction into the world of Commercial Aviation became a foundation of my flying career allowing my advancement to complete over 40 years in the business. Now retired from flying i can only be grateful to Alan for that early break and the vast amount of information he provided me with. Alans family, friends and indeed the industry have lost a truly 'Top Chap' and my condolences go out to all those affected by Alans passing. He will be very sadly missed.

This was myself and my son Mason and his sister when Alan took us up for a flying lesson. Masons dream came true this day as he absolutely loves planes and loved Alan ❤️

Yesterday we had what was a wonderful party, Alan would have loved every minute, friends and family came from far and wide the Essex crew flying in,Rob travelling from Amsterdam and then a long journey from London up to Leicester. I would also like to thank all of his friends who were not able to attend for the precious memories he had of times spent with all of you. My little brother is now on his next adventure with his new wings.❤️

I have just received the news of Alan’s passing and I cannot believe it. I was Alan’s gym maintenance guy. I used to go to his house in Leicestershire to fix his kit often bringing along my son Mason who has learning disability’s. Alan really got to become great friends with Mason and even took him flying one day. Mason and myself will never forget you Alan xx Lee & Mason
