Agnes Peterson
August 23rd, 1937 - March 22nd, 2020
August 23rd, 1937 - March 22nd, 2020
Agnes Graziella Marie Peterson was born in North Battleford Saskatchewan, August 23, 1937. Agnes passed away peacefully on March 22, 2020 in Abbotsford Regional Hospital with family by her side. Agnes is survived by her husband of 35 years Steve Peterson, daughters JoAnne Melland and Michelle Clarke and her grandson Christopher Moore. Agnes also leaves behind brothers Alfred, Peter, Marc, and her beautiful sister Albina. Agnes has many family and friends who will miss her dearly.
Agnes was a nurse in the Alberta health care system in her early years. From here she supported the family’s small business and became very busy raising the two girls. Through this she became involved with the Girl Guides of Canada, and eventually became the District Commissioner. One of her moments for which she was very proud of was bringing 50 young women on an empowering journey to Cuernavaca, Mexico. The house was often grand central for Girl Guide cookie sales, and don’t forget the sky-high poppy sale for the Royal Canadian Legion! Agnes’ creativity and drive continued through the end of her working life where she crafted beautiful ceramic creations for over 10 years.
Agnes participated actively in the sport of curling. Both Jo-Anne and Michelle became the local rink rats, with much of Agnes’ time dedicated to the sport that she was very good at! Many friends and alliances were formed in both Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta and Vernon, British Columbia. Through curling Agnes earned the endearing name Bobbi that we all know and love.
For the past 35 years, Agnes and Steve have built a home together – both in the Lower Mainland and Palm Springs, California. Their Palm Springs community of friendships continue to be very important and special to both. Their love of sun and golf brought them to the sunshine, but the people kept them coming back year after year. Agnes was a strong, independent and courageous woman who will be greatly missed. A funeral service and celebration of life will be announced once it is safe for gatherings.

Beautiful lady. She was my godmother and always reminded me of that. We so enjoyed visiting my mom Albina Maure ( her sister) and listening in when they all talked about the past.. Sending our condolences to Steve and family.
