Abou Ibrahim Nyangamukenga

Abou Ibrahim Nyangamukenga Keita, known to many as ‘Chinois’, passed away on Monday May 4th 2020 in New York City, NY, at 69 years old. He was a beloved father, husband, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend.  Born on September 23, 1950 in France, Abou grew up in Burundi and lived in Mamou, Guinea.

About 30 years ago, he and his wife, Fatou, made Brooklyn their home and became pillars of the Guinean Poullo community in New York City. Abou was kind and dependable, and always there for a good laugh. He will be fondly remembered by his dear wife Fatou Chinois Nyangamukenga Keita; his children, Saliou, Aichatou, Souleymane, Malado, Mohamed Alpha, and Nene Hawa Nyangamukenga Keita.

Given the social distancing measures put in place by the City of New York, we will celebrate the life of Abou Ibrahim Nyangamukenga Keita on Thursday May 7th, 2020 at 2:45 pm, New York time. Details will follow soon. We will share his final resting place as soon as possible.

Abou Ibrahim Nyangamukenga Keita, connu par beaucoup par son surnom «Chinois», est décédé le lundi 4 Mai 2020 à New York, NY, à l'âge de 69 ans. Il était un père, un mari, un grand-père, un oncle, un cousin et un ami bien-aimé. Né le 23 septembre 1950 en France, Abou a grandi au Burundi et a vécu à Mamou, en Guinée.

Il y a environ 30 ans, lui et sa femme, Fatou, se sont installés à Brooklyn et sont devenus les piliers de la communauté Peule Guinéenne à New York. Abou était un homme aimant, fiable, et toujours d’humeur à rigoler. Il restera à jamais gravé dans les mémoires de sa chère épouse Fatou Chinois Nyangamukenga Keita; ses enfants, Saliou, Aichatou, Souleymane, Malado, Mohamed Alpha et Nene Hawa Nyangamukenga Keita.
