"To connect with your mortality is also an opportunity to connect with your humanity. We need each other. Sending my best to everyone out there. Come together." - Steve Wood Stephen Douglas Wood was taken from us too soon on October 22, 2020 shortly before his 54 th birthday. Steve was a loving, outgoing, fun, adventurous soul with a passion for entertaining others, lifting spirits, pushing boundaries, and living life on his own terms. After visiting California at 12 years old, Steve decided that he would live there as soon as he got the chance. Upon graduating from SMU in 1989, Steve moved from Dallas, Texas to Los Angeles. He continued pursuing his passion for the arts, travelling the world, moving to New York City for a brief period of time. After his time in New York, Steve followed his heart back to California, where he found his calling in helping others build strength, confidence, health, and living their best lives. Steve is survived by his mother, Billie, father, David, sister, Priscilla, brother-in-law, Steve, nephew, Lance, and niece, Stevie. A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Those who knew Steve, know his legacy of love and passion for lifting up others. In lieu of flowers, we are asking for contributions to be made in his honor to Lift Brigade, a charity near and dear to Steve's heart, founded by his nephew while battling cancer himself. Lift Brigade® helps children, and their families, dealing with cancer and other life-threatening diagnoses better cope with their treatment. Donations can be made securely online at https://www.liftbrigade.org/donation-page/. Steve's social media has also been memorialized. All are welcome to post memories and final words to @pilateswithwood as well as here.

Oh Steve, I cannot believe this. We were just talking about meeting up in California this past June when things got better. We always had a bond. You could always make me smile. I met you in Wynn Handman's acting class in NYC sometime in the late 90's I think. You were saying in June that you missed NYC in many ways. I wish I had spent more time with you. When we connected recently it was like no time had gone by. We always made each other laugh. You were one of the most talented and one of the funniest people I've ever known. And you were so supportive of me and that meant so much. And we had the Sagittarian connection! You always made me happy. I love you my friend. You were very special. Your light will always shine and I know we will see each other again one day. Rest in Peace my friend. You were and are amazing! And sending love to your family and friends. Love, Suzanne

Today is my brother's birthday. I am still not ready to accept a world without him in it. I still want to give him a call to share a funny story, ask a question, or just say "I love you". I miss him in a million ways, and especially miss his laugh. Happy birthday, big brother. ❤ I love you

I am heartbroken to see this news - Steve and I were texting just a few days before he passed. Such a beautiful man - I am so grateful for all of the times we spent together - talking about art, love, life. He had an amazing connection to the body and ability to teach in ways that no one else could - I learned so much from him (and he saved me when I had crazy back pain several years ago - I still do those exercises!). Always sharing a laugh when I least expected it - and offering support when I didn't even know I needed it. Sending love to his family and friends - I will miss him dearly. xx
