Our beloved father Silverio Romero, a proud veteran of the Korean War and longtime resident of Westminster, CO passed away peacefully in his home on March 6, 2024 surrounded by family. Silver, as he was known to many in the area, was born March 29, 1934 to Anastacio and Floripa (Trujillo) Romero and attended Menaul School before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force in 1953. He was born in Truchas, NM. His childhood in Truchas instilled a lifelong passion for the outdoors. He was an outstanding fisherman and hunter. He engaged in geology, petrology, and hydroponics, and he loved to speak about it with anyone who would listen. After his last USAF duty assignment, as 456th Fighter Interceptor Squadron, Silverio returned to NM and served in the Air National Guard of NM and as a reserve of the Air Force until 1960. Silverio started his career in electronics at Rocky Mountain Technical Institute in Denver, Co. and continued his training at Martin Marietta in 1962. He worked and retired as an electrician technician at Rocky Flats Nuclear Plant in Golden, Co. Silverio is survived by loving wife Maria Magdelena (Martinez) Romero, also known as Maggie, brothers Jose Isauro Romero and Dennis Orlando [Marjorie] Romero. Silverio and Maggie first met in Alburquerque, NM at a basketball game through mutual friends. It was love at first sight and they continued to share their love during a long and happy marriage of 65 years. Silverio leaves behind his children Kathy [Bruce] Befort, Sandy Romero and partner George Atencio, Randy Romero, Sylvia [Roy] Jones, Tom [Sherry] Romero, as well as eight grandchildren and ten greatgrandchildren.
