Forever loved, Forever missed
On March 26, 2022 at the age of 71, Roy Leslie Smith was called home to heaven after his 3 year long battle with lung cancer. He was preceded by his sisters Edna Jones and Wilma Jean Saunders and his brother Curry Smith as well as his parents Fannie Irene and William Curry Smith. He is succeeded by his wife, Kathi Smith, children Kasaundra Smith (Jake Beaudoin) and Ashlie Crampo (Tony Crampo), grandchildren Olivia Smith, Drew Crampo, and Xander Crampo, and siblings Glenna Atkins, Anna Steel, and Lowell Smith. Roy was born on April 30, 1950 in Wenatchee, WA where he grew up going to school and often talked about his time picking apples in the orchards. He joined the military at a young age and proudly served his country for 8 years fighting in Vietnam. He married the love of his life on September 6, 1986 and together they had two children. They made a life together in the small town of Moses Lake, WA. He worked hard and held down multiple jobs at a time to provide for his family, but his passion was fixing cars. There were always multiple cars he was working on the driveway. He taught his children how to work on them and to be independent and self-reliant. He also loved to build and create. He was always in the garage working on something: making a wishing well, putting together a shed, building a deck. He was very handy and made sure to pass that down to his children. Once his children had grown and moved away he soon followed them and moved to Vancouver, WA. He couldn't stand to be away from the family he loved so deeply. He was there to welcome two grandchildren into the world and they became his everything. He lived out the rest of his life surrounded by the people he loved the most. Rest in Peace, you will be greatly missed. A memorial service is being held on Monday, April 25 at 2pm at Willamette National Cemetery located at 11800 SE Mt Scott Blvd, Portland, OR 97086. Dad's Desserts will follow at Everette Hall located at 16750 S Brockway Rd, Oregon City, OR 97045.
