Comment avez-vous rencontré Seth?
I met Professor Seth Oppong during my undergraduate studies at the University of Botswana (2018-2022), where he taught most of my Work Psychology modules. He was a stern yet approachable man, deeply reliable and one of the best lecturers I’ve ever encountered. It has been over a year since his passing, but he still crosses my mind, especially when I find myself needing guidance in my Psychology career. May his soul continue to rest in peace.

I have just learned that Seth Oppong has passed on in February. Although our paths have crossed only once and very briefly, Seth has made that particular day a better day for me - as a person, and as a scholar. I carry his warmth, his humanity, and sharp intellect with me. Condolences to his family and close colleagues. Travel safely, dear Seth!

It is with great sorrow that I received the news about the passing of Seth Oppong. I just met him once, but he left a big impact as the brilliant scholar he was. Me heartfelt condolences to his family, colleagues and friends.

On July 29, I learned that on Feb 17 the world lost a fine psychologist, and I lost a friend and admired colleague. I learned about Seth's death because I was searching for a reference of one of his publications and the search turned up his obituary. I had wondered why he, uncharacteristically, did not reply to several WhatsApp messages including a birthday greeting at the end of May. Since 2013 when we first connected, Seth and I shared articles, thoughts and opinions about our field. I was pleased to be a reader for his dissertation on road signage and safety. He invited me to join him for an article about Graduate Unemployment in 2015. I invited him to join me for a presentation about White Saviorism in 2022. We gave each other appreciative recommendations on LinkedIn. I admired his wide-ranging intellect, his proud Ghanaian identity, his strong advocacy for afro-centering (i.e. re-centering) psychology and his commitment to his family. The life he led is an outstanding model to his children and all of us. Although I never met his family, he and I did have the chance to be together at Univ of Ghana Legon in November 2019 (photo). As we say in my tradition, May his memory be a blessing. Thank you, Dr. Seth.
