January 20th, 1949 - October 20th, 2021
Lida (Linda) Jacqueline Mayer Left us the morning of Wednesday October the 20th 2021 She was born January 27 1949 and was 72 years old.
She was a devoted mother of two and Grandmother to three adoring grandchildren. She fought tirelessly for the marginalized, unseen and unrepresented.
She loved nature and native flora and worked to protect and preserve the wilderness around us. She lived simply embracing the trees, flowers and wildlife around her.
She was a passionate artist and collector of things, often with artistic intention. She saw beauty in the mundane and celebrated it unapologetically.
She inspired those around her and often showed them a new way to look at the world around them. She was always eager to share her knowledge and experience with anyone interested.
She embraced new experiences in her early life, she lived in New York and Germany where she had her youngest child.
She regularly attended protests and rallies and helped to organize in support of causes she believed in. Most recently she was a co-founder of Friends of Williams Creek. She advocated for prison reform, prisoner rights, housing justice and universal healthcare. She supported the Black Lives Matter movement and police reform. She started a sizeable community Library at St Lukes Church to provide for those in the community and visiting the adjoining food bank. She fought for the compassionate treatment of the homeless and needy.
She had friends from all walks of life and welcomed anyone into her circle. She was an active member of Saint Lukes Episcopal church as well as embracing many indigenous beliefs. She lived a full life and will be greatly missed.
Lida is survived by her brother John Mayer, sons Hillary Mayer and Forest Mayer and three grandchildren Lily Mayer, Maya Mayer and Theo Mayer. She was preceded by mother Helen Mayer and father Ted Mayer.
A private natural burial and graveside service will be held on Tuesday October 26 2021. A memorial and celibration of life is being planned and this site will be updated when details are available.
