Joseph Borkenhagen

Joseph J. Borkenhagen, 65, of New Berlin, WI, was born to eternal life on February 27, 2024.

Joseph was born in Menomonee Falls, WI in 1959 to James and Shirley Borkenhagen. Joe graduated from Menomonee Falls North High School, and University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. He spent most of his career as a loyal employee at Malteurop (formerly Froedtert Malt).

Joseph was preceded in death by his father James, and his mother Shirley. He is survived by his wife, Colleen, daughter Amy (Jacob) Graske, son John (Jada), grandsons Jack and Max Graske, and siblings Linda (Tom) Licht, Ed (Linda), Paul, Julie Richardson, Mary (Ken) O’Connell, Marty (Karl) Schildbach, and Matt. Further survived by mother-in-law Beverly Flanagan, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Pat (Karen) Flanagan, Steve (Kathy) Flanagan, Mike Gaertner, Paul (Melissa) Gaertner, Barbara Jean Flanagan, Susan (Jim) Claus, Beth (Mike) Bloom, Mark (Amy) Flanagan, Tom (Jennifer) Flanagan, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Joe was a man of faith and family.  His presence and dedication were felt at home, family gatherings, and sporting events for his children. An avid golfer, he spent many hours on the course with his son, brother, brothers-in-law, and newest golf league friends in retirement. He also enjoyed jigsaw and crossword puzzles, board games, and trivia. He would have thought there were already too many words in this message, but it is impossible to capture what he meant to everyone.

Visitation will be held at Holy Apostles Church (16000 W. National Avenue, New Berlin, WI 53151) from 9:30 to 11:30am on Friday, March 15th. Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:30am. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Heart Association would be appreciated.
