Dear family, we send our condolences on the passing on of the beloved man whom we knew mostly as our dear friend’s father. In our interactions, we saw his kindness, generosity of spirit and affection for his family. We are thinking of you as you celebrate his life today and reflect on all that he he has been to you and many others.
Hope Ashiabor & Siblings
I am sure Jos will be touched to know how many friends are here today to say goodbye and show their support. Jos was a man who was very proud of his children and adored his grandchildren. He had a self-deprecating sense of humour, and a generous person who touched the lives of many. You will be greatly missed. Goodbye Jos and may you rest in peace. Hope Ashiabor (Sydney, Australia) on behalf of all his siblings.

Although our relationship was limited to a handful of very long-distance phone calls, I am forever grateful that Joseph consented to an extraordinary act of faith that led to a great gift for my family. Without knowing anything about my values and beliefs, he trusted me, a white American, to be the temporary dad to his 17-year-old daughter, Ayeshat, during the year she came to live in our home as an exchange student. He perhaps thought he was taking this risk as a way to enrich her future life through this cross-cultural experience, but I am convinced we were the beneficiaries his generous confidence in our ability to care for her with the same kind of watchfulness as he always displayed. May he now rely forever on the trustworthiness of his Heavenly Father‘s unconditional love.

Uncle Jos, my father introduced you to me as his son from his Sekondi days. You were very warm and we instantly got along well. It was interesting meeting you subsequently at Multi Stores. We would have long and interesting chats and would always see me off with goodies for Papa. We lost touch after a while and it was a pleasant surprise when we reconnected in December 2020 through Ayesha. It was a delight seeing you again in December 2021. We thank God for your life and pray that the Almighty God God receives you in His bosom. Rest peacefully Uncle Jos. You will be fondly remembered.

Free-Spirited Man you were! You embraced all and loved all. Back in the days at Labone your home was our play house and movie home. You never stopped us from coming over to play. I remember one of the days you carried all the children including myself in your car on an ice cream spree at Granada Hotel. It was so much fun. You made things work when it was difficult gaining admission to my first choice school not because I had bad grades,no but for whatever reasons. Indeed you lived for others, a selfless life. May God give you rest Dada. Till we meet again
