Jane B Clark

March 9th, 1948 - May 11th, 2020

March 9th, 1948 - May 11th, 2020

Jane Bancroft Clark, known to friends as Janie, passed away in her home surrounded by family on May 11th, 2020. A 15-year resident of Sanibel Island, Florida, she was born and raised in Rochester, New York and was a former resident of Richmond, Virginia. She had many interests over the years but her greatest love was being a mother and a homemaker. She was intensely devoted to her kids and spent countless hours with them in their pursuits. Always curious, she loved to learn and had hobbies including cooking, needlepoint, glass-fusing, kayaking and knitting. Activities that also brought her great joy were strolling on the beach, collecting shells, working in her botanically rich yard, and just being on Sanibel, a place she dearly loved. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, John, and five children, Robey, Wylie (Penni), Liz (Arthur), Perry (Annalisa), and Catherine, and her six grandchildren, Christina, Katelyn, Sonya, Adam, Venetia and Athan. She is also survived by her sisters Carol and Lisa. Thanks to Hope Hospice, she died comfortably in her bed in the house she loved and put so much effort into. She was in touch with all her kids just before passing.

We were so sad to hear about the passing of Janie. She was one of the first persons I met when we moved into Stonehenge. I remember our chats at the bus stop and how kind she and Elizabeth were to my younger children. Janie will always hold a special place in our hearts. Our thoughts and prayers are with John and Elizabeth and all your family. Janie was a special person. We will miss her. Anne & Gary Hixson

I am so very sorry to hear of our loss of Janie. I have so many wonderful memories of her in the library at Trinity, always smiling, always helpful, always a great person to have around. I knew her as a rare and wonderful person. The most striking aspect of her beyond her kindness was her love of being part of something at Trinity. In her volunteer work, it just wasn't work to her - it was always filled with joy. She will be missed.

I am so sorry to hear of Janie's passing. I met her when Robey was a fourth grader at W.W. Gordon Elementary school. I was his teacher and Janie was my room mother. We had a great year together. With her help we had a medieval fair, taught the kids chess and bridge, and shared some great experiences with them. We had some great school parties with Janie at the helm! She was a strong advocate for all her children. She loved the arts and instilled this in the kids. Love to Robey, Wylie, and Elizabeth. Condolences and prayers to John! Fondly, Kathy Sefrin

I am so sorry to hear of Jane's passing. We were neighbors and her boys, Robey and Wylie, went to W.W. Gordon Elementary with my boys, Jeff and Kevin. Jane and I were room mothers and very active in the PTA. She was always there to help in any way she could. We would also cheer together at the boy's soccer games. Her gentle demeaner and infectious smile were always a blessing. Praying for peace and comfort for this wonderful family. Karen Mapp and family
