October 22nd, 1979 - September 3rd, 2022
Hunter Baird, 42, hit the gold streets of heaven on two wheels on September 3rd, 2022. Hunter was born in Bellingham, Washington to Cheryl Rene` Benios and James Thomas Baird on October 22nd, 1979. Hunter was also lucky enough to have been loved by Gerald Dean Kern, his bonus dad. Hunter attended high school in Eastern Washington at Colville High school. He moved to South Carolina in 1998 where he met the girl next door, his future wife, Dawn Michele Clark. They married on February 28th, 2000. Hunter then joined the Coast Guard that same year. He remained in the Coast Guard for 6 years earning many awards: expert marksmen, sea service ribbon, unit commendation award, national defense service medal, and Transportation 9-11 ribbon. Hunter contributed to post-Vietnam era Veteran's educational assistance program by counseling Veterans. He then went on to become a police officer with the SC State Ports Authority and continued his career by earning his Associates degree in Science at Lone Star College in Houston, Texas, where he was on the Dean's list. After being in Texas for 3 years, the family settled in Washington, Pennsylvania. Hunter had many passions. He enjoyed collecting guns, knives, comics, and grilling fantastic meals. As an expert marksmen, he was also skilled in archery and axe throwing. Hunter always loved martial arts and earned his black belt with his skills in nunchucks, staff techniques, and the twin sai. He was no stranger to Comic Conventions and loved meeting celebrities from his favorite films. Motorcycles were one of his favorite past times and being on the open road was where he felt he could reflect on the day. Hunter's proudest achievement was his family Dawn, Haleigh, Fischer, and Sam. He never met a stranger he couldn't turn into a friend, and every friend was part of the family. Hunter is survived by his wife, Dawn and children Haleigh, Fischer, and Sam, as well as, his loving mother, Cheryl Kern, sister Jayme Merritt and step sisters Amy Kitchens and Kristina Vafeades. Also, his father-n-law Danny Clark.

So sorry for the loss of this family man. Prayers of Blessing, Sympathy and Comfort to those left to go on without him.

In shocking and tragic events it's hard to find the proper words. Sometimes we have to fall back on the usual cliches to express our grief. You deserve more than that so let me try to be more specific. Hunter, it was an honor to know you, and I will always remember fondly how you always welcomed me into your home, our adventure to the Keys, the excursion to Slippery Rock to see Screaming Orphans, and the fantastic Halloween party you and Dawn put together that helped so many of us get through the funk of the pandemic. Big guy, you are, and will be missed by all of us for whatever time we have left.
