It's been almost 3 years... and I still cannot believe, I will never hear your laughter again. I will never see your infectious smile. We will never argue about football or make crazy travel plans... I miss you. Rest in peace, Diego.

En nuestra oficina de Londres apareció un día un joven cuya sonrisa reflejaba un alma llena de esperanza. Por su deseo de aprender hacía preguntas que dejaban descubrir cosas nuevas a los que, como yo, tenemos tantos años de experiencia. A veces hasta creía que este mundo no podía merecer a un ser tan bello …. y pensaba a la hermosa familia que lo había criado … y ahora me duele pensar que no puedo hacer mucho para aliviar el dolor de sus seres queridos. He pensado tanto a cuales, entre las miles de palabras, debería escoger para manifestarles lo que siento en mi alma. Y una tarde vi una imagen de Diego y me parecía que me dijera: “no tengas miedo, mis padres y hermana apreciarán lo que puedas escribir”. Así que me acordé de lo que se encuentra escrito en una obra inmortal que leí hace muchos años: “… no es nada morir, lo triste es no vivir”. Y Diego vivió plenamente su corto camino terreno, llenando de satisfacciones y alegría a sus padres, familiares y amigos. ¡Y es su sonrisa que seguirá brillando para siempre!. Livio

Dear Diego, I remember the first time I saw you in class and the twinkle in your eyes. You personified fun and friendliness - two qualities you always showed every time we met from then on. I cherish the conversation we had while you were in London and remember watching the sunset here in Istria while we spoke. You smile was infectious and will always be so for me -- I am smiling as I type. Thank you Diego.

You promised me that you would have forwarded that e-mail to me whenever you felt I was sad. Beh, this would be the perfect moment, dear Diego. I will never forget our look of mutual understanding, without any word, your capability to give me strength, your contagious smile and your straightforwardness. I loved all this. You have inspired me so much and luckily I had the occasion to tell you this in person several times. I remember your stories about your beloved land, your Segovia, your Spain. Anytime you smiled, you showed us the warm sun of your beloved land. Thank you, dear Diego, for having been such a special person for all of us.
