I am so sorry to hear of Bo's death. He was a very much valued member of the team we put together for Sir Ketumile Masire, the former President of Botswana, when Masire was appointed "Facilitator" of the Inter-Congolese Dialogue. We asked Bo to handle the donor governments who funded the process - there were some 22 of them, consisting of the EU and many governments. Together they gave us $18million for the Dialogue, which took three years to put together and complete. It gave the Congolese a respite from constant war and only their second chance ever in a period of 40 years to sit together and debate their future as a nation. Bo's tact and skill enable us to fund this lengthy process and deal with the constant challenges of paying for the representatives of the people of the DRC to talk to each other in a constructive and properly organised forum. My condolences to the family. Bo will be much missed, I am sure. Philip Winter, Kenya, (former Chief of Staff to Masire.)

Bo was preceded by his character more than his words. He loved travel and continually sought opportunities to improve the standards and conditions of others wherever he could. As Sweden's Ambassador to Zimbabwe, tradition demanded that servants wear white gloves and not just bow, but stoop - head to floor when addressing their employers. Bo refused to continue this colonial practice. No more gloves; no more bowing. Bo's best gift to me is our son Erik. Bo's best favor to me was when I asked him, soon after we arrived in Stockholm, how I could best support him and his career? He answered, "Babsie, learn Swedish." His request - although a great challenge - paid dividends. He relished his position at the embassy and although Washington, DC was no NYC, we had Georgetown. I regret the night Bo, Jan Eliason and Björn Elmer serenaded me from curbside. Sadly, I wasn't at home; my neighbors, however, enjoyed the trio. Eager to share his hometown, Eksjö, its countryside and wildlife - we often visited Småland. And, Ingrid, his mother, graciously taught me to prepare his favorite dishes. No matter how far Bosse roamed… his Småland - always near to heart. Fondly remembered… Barbara Taylor-Heineback
