We will miss you Grandma Betsy. The kids always loved visiting their great grandma. Love, The Konopkas

Don Helverson: I miss Aunt Betsy. Her smile, her laughter, her snappy wit while beating me at Scrabble. She was there when I learned to swim in her pool. She was there when I learned to ride a bike in front of her house. She created innumerable family outings and reunions and celebrations. I want to thank her for a great part of my childhood, countless memories of her showing up for friends and family. I want to thank her for the patience she showed me when I was a cocky young adult, for the helpful advice she gave me when I was a humbled new parent, for the love she always gave to her wide and wonderful circle. She was bigger than life to me, and she was bigger than life to most of us who knew her. I want to remember how much better life is and has been for so many of us because of her. God Bless You and Keep You, Aunt Betsy. You lived with faith and gave with your heart. Thank you for always being there for us. It meant everything to have an aunt like you.

I am so grateful for the many memories I have with my Grandmother Betsy. From reading and playing together in the playroom attic of the old Evanston house when I was a child, to having her present for the birthday parties and get togethers of my own children - what a blessing to have had so many years together. She will be missed by many. 💕

One thing that was obviously important to Aunt Betsy was being a sister. No matter how different the paths and lives of Betsy and her sisters, she stayed involved and connected. Her older sister was our three daughters' grandmother, and when the second and third of Wynanda's grand daughters were born at the same time, (Aunt) Betsy made a trip out to California to hold them, and offer some invaluable advice, from her own experience, on bringing up twin daughters with an older sister. Her continuous active participation the life of her sister Wynanda brought both joy and support to endure the challenges. Besides all the love, (Aunt) Betsy leaves a model of how to be the kind of sister and family member we all want to have and be. My gratitude to Laurel and family for care taking and compassion for your grief and loss.

Grandmother Betsy was so wonderful and loving. I have many great memories with her and Grandfather Paul. All the times spent on golf outings to eating at unique restaurants and old favorites, life was always more exciting when visiting the grandparents. She lived a great life and brought happiness to so many people. I am forever indebted to her for setting the example of how to live and also for saying it was acceptable to eat dessert first.
