Bob Friday
I'm sitting outside our house, misty-eyed and reflecting on the wonderful stories other friends of Barry had written. He and Miriam lived two blocks from us and for that Marti, my wife, and I are eternally grateful as it allowed us to be there for one another. The four of us were in one another's lives for reasons that I'm sure Barry would love to talk with me about. Barry and I were certainly soul mates. We would speak so freely with one another from atheism to drumming to healing to healthcare to our marriages to our old motorcycles (he's the only guy I ever met that owned a BSA Lighting Rocket)…..and we knew one another for only several months. All four of us were together with Barry the last few hours of his life. Marti was present for Miriam, who reminded Barry of what a wonderful world he was passing into. I spent time massaging his shoulders, looking into his partially opened eyes and letting him know I was there and he was not alone. When Marti and I left Barry and Miriam that night, I remembered meeting his children and grandchildren and was very certain what my friend Barry had left to carry on his message to this world so in need of a man like Barry Weinstock. Dear Barry, my heart is heavy with sadness but at the same time joyful for the time we spent together in friendship. It was in those "hazy" days of the late '60's, sharing the apartment near DU when I was substitute teaching and you worked at Frontier Airlines. Every day seemed to be a new adventure, then suddenly you were on the road to new adventures in Lake Tahoe! I am so glad we had the opportunity to catch up at the last reunion! You are forever embedded in my soul as a great friend and wonderful person. Much love to you and your family.

- [ ] Barry has been a friend of mine since high school. I remember riding in his white Volvo going skiing, and him playing drums in his basement. Later we gathered as mutual friends with a group whom we have been in touch with all these years. The picture is of one of those group reunions. Barry got me started on oxygen, through his expertise and referral. The last time I saw Barry, was when he and Miriam came to visit me and friends Tom and Trudy in Grand Junction. I last talked to Barry a few days ago. I was in awe at his usual great attitude, his spirituality, and his confidence in where he was going….. Be said some day you and I, Sharon, and all of us will meet on the other side. Barry I love you. See you on the other side dear friend…..

Uncle Barry was present for some of the best moments of my life, and was one of the biggest supporters of my family during some of the worst. He leaves behind an amazing legacy and what a true mensch, giving so much to strangers (turned family) who had so little. He was a shining example of what is good in the world and his well-lived, storied, benevolent, and traveled life, plus his amazing wife, kids, and grandkids are a true testament to that. He danced to the beat of his own drum, which I found so refreshing. He'll be missed deeply but his cheerful voice and heart will live on in all of us. I truly believe he left this world with a satisfied mind and heart.

Barry this is really hard to write. We grew up and you were always like a brother from an extended family. Memories Playing football on Monaco you were always faster and I could never catch you Smoking pot and introduction to patchouli oil on Capital Hill. Passing 100+ cars on the shoulder of Hwy 285 until we got stopped. Working together at Everroad Supply. Being awoken by the police when you, Lee, Skip, and Billy were borrowing cars joy riding Phillips elementary, Smiley, George Washington- Silverthorne, Park Hill, Capital Hill party party party. Going to really miss you.

Barry, In one of the last emails of the GW Committee (in an attempt to plan another reunion with Covid in the midst), I remember stating that we will see you at the next reunion. And it breaks my heart to realize that will not be the case. I remember hearing your name long before I met you in person as one of the coolest, most handsome guys coming to GW in our freshman year. And it was true!!! Truly, you lived up to your reputation, but you also were so sincere and kind to all. You have given so much to so many people over the years by your generosity as well your keen wisdom. I cannot overlook the time and skill it took to keep up the GW website where we can all reconnect...I know Miriam is at your side and is the love of your life, and it has been wonderful to become her friend and see her at all our reunions. You chose well.... We all love, respect, and admire you so much and will have you close by in our hearts and memories.
