Thomas (Tom) Ewen Price, aged 65, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on June 30, 2022. He was a resident of Chehalis, WA, formerly residing in the Hood River Valley, OR, with his early years spent in LaGrande, OR. His youth was also spent in the Oregon towns of Portland, Medford, Pendleton, Moro, and Ontario. He was predeceased by his father Lawrence Doyn Price and his son Michael Ewen Price. He left behind his wife, Lynn Puki Rue-Price, mother Patty Price-Hukari, granddaughter Katilyn Timblin, daughter and son in law Chelsey and Barry Gover, brother and sister in law L. Craig Price and Louise Apichell-Price, brother and sister in law Doug and Sharron Price, his nephew Mathew Price, and his great-niece Alexas Price. As anyone who knew Tom will likely tell you, he was a jovial, easy going man with a contagious smile and laugh, always ready with a joke or to lend a helpful hand to any person or cause in need. Tom never knew a stranger, would befriend anyone with whom he crossed paths, and provided common sense leadership and service in various volunteer and community organizations with which he worked over the years. Tom was known for always being on the go, and made time for as many hobbies as one man could squeeze in - including golf, running, boxing, fishing, hunting, sport shooting, enjoying wildlife and the great outdoors, mechanics, handiwork, woodworking, and home repair, avid reading, writing, poetry, painting, photography, collecting and listening to records, collecting, cooking, baking, gardening, hosting gatherings and parties, fierce competition in games of every variety, and U.S. and international travel - having visited 4 continents, around 10+ countries, and at least as many U.S. states and Canadian provinces. Tom was equally well known for his boundless work ethic - both professionally and personally. He drove trucks and other heavy equipment his entire career, starting out driving log trucks in eastern Oregon before working on the Bonneville Dam project in the early 1980s. He began working for Carson Oil Company in Hood River in the late 1980s, and made a courageous career move and went to work for KBR in Iraq at Al Asad and Al Taqaddum bases during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Later, Tom briefly returned home to Oregon, quickly finding his next professional adventure on the North Slope of Alaska, working in Prudhoe Bay for various outfits, including Worley. Tom's mechanical and technical abilities and safety conscientiousness helped fuel his professional success - he could run nearly any piece of equipment or truck he encountered in his career - from the tundra of Alaska, the deserts of Iraq, the orchards of Hood River, or the narrow, dangerous roads of Bonneville Dam and logging roads in rural Oregon. Tom's memorial is being held from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. at the Mt. Hood Town Hall on Hwy 35 in Mt. Hood, Oregon on Saturday, August 6th, 2022. All are welcomed - please join us in honoring and celebrating the 65 truly wonderful years Tom shared with us all. Come when you can, leave when you like. His family will spread his ashes in a private ceremony on Surveyor's Ridge in Hood River, Oregon alongside his son, Mike Price. If you knew Tom, please take a moment to add a memory or story to this website to create a lasting memorial for us to all enjoy for years to come. In lieu of flowers, the family hopes you'll consider donating to the Tom Price Memorial & Scholarship Fund to support causes in civics, for veterans, and education in the trades. I want to thank everyone for telling stories about Tom. It has been a source of comfort/happiness in processing Tom's passing. I had the pleasure of meeting Tom 16 years ago through his son, Mike. Tom brought me into the family from day and never looked back. He was a great grandpa to Kailtyn. Oh, the adventures they would go on during their vacations every summer. He was not only Kaitlyn's grandpa, but I considered Tom someone I could always turn to for support in anything. During some rough times, as one could expect of Tom, he never pointed blame of a situation but just looked for solutions. He truly was one of a kind- would help anyone in need and always had a story and jokes to tell. I miss you ol' man and think about you often. Below are some pictures of Kaitlyn and Tom through the years, that now more than over, I will cherish.

I had the pleasure of training him when he first got up to the slope. After a day or two I told him he was too nice of a guy to be working up here. The world needs more people like Tom.

My heartfelt condolences to Tom's loved ones. He leaves a huge hole in the hearts of those of us that have had the great pleasure to know and worked with Tom. He was a great deal more than a friend; Tom was in every sense of the word considered my brother. Tom was a standout coworker, when the workday assignments were posted it was always going to be a good day seeing I was working with Tom. I was always entertained by Tom's sense of humor, he was a man of many words and stories, some factual and others not so factual... but a man of true integrity. I believe life is like a stream that never stops flowing when we die, we just move to another branch of the stream that continues flowing forever. Until we meet again on another branch of the stream my friend, my brother.

Tom was one of the most genuine guys I've ever been around. He worked diligently and set a great example for me of a guy who took the time to do things the right way. He was a true old school hard working guy. We fished together in Alaska and we shared a great bond over those experiences. Rest In Peace my friend. You will be missed.

My deepest condolences to the family. I don't even know where to begin. I spent a great portion of my childhood under Tom's roof, he essentially took me in as a second son because I was there so often. He always treated as if I were his, guided me, fed me, checked on me when I wasn't there. Even in adulthood from time to time I would get messages from him out of the blue, (usually making fun of me, or making a joke of some kind) His sense of humor was second to none. I affectionately referred to Tom as Lim Lom, Old Man, various others, he had many different names for me as well... that I will keep to myself, Chelsey, You know you witnessed many of the shenanigans.. Tom wasn't a perfect man and he wasn't shy about letting it be known that he made mistakes, often using his life experiences to teach Mike and I the correct way to go about it. Tom was always so proud of his kids, beaming from ear to ear when they were the subject of a conversation, and took any chance he had to brag about them. My fondest memories with Tom had to have been game nights. You never knew how he was going to rig the game in his favor! I will always have Lim Lom in my memory, and think of him often. Rest easy my friend, I will miss you greatly. until we meet again. -Joe
