TIMOTHY JOHN TRAPP, 62, beloved brother, uncle and friend, died in Madison on March 2, 2021. Tim was born on May 24, 1958, in La Crosse, Wisconsin, to Ted & June (Foster) Trapp, who have predeceased him.

Tim graduated from La Crosse Central High School in 1976, received his Bachelor of Science degree in English (with a minor in Anthropology) from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and his Master of Arts degree in English from Iowa State University.

Tim (“Trapper”) never got a tattoo because his mother said, “You can't become a spy if you have one,” but he did try his hand at a number of other things, including some adventures in Wyoming, Colorado and the La Crosse Rubber Mills, before he settled into a 26-year career in the National Sales Office of Humana Insurance in Madison. He oversaw and mentored agents selling in the Ohio market and was recognized as a top sales executive, earning President's Council awards in 2016 and 2018. His teammates at Humana knew him for his kindness, warmth and energy. Tim's family extends their deep appreciation to the Humana team for the friendship, help and caring they gave to him, particularly after his diagnosis with pancreatic cancer and during the 19 months he fought the disease with courage and grace.

Tim is survived by two brothers, David (Betty) Trapp of Onalaska and Allen (Lynn) Trapp of La Crosse, as well as a niece, Tonya Custis of Minneapolis, and nephews, Jonathan (Lauri) Trapp of La Crosse, Thomas (Caressa) Trapp of Des Moines, and Marcus (Allison) Trapp of Madison. He is also survived by his ex-wife and close friend, Doreen Trapp of Kimberly, WI.

Tim taught us that life was a gift and to be thankful for the opportunities each of us is given but not to forget to laugh and have some fun along the journey. Tim's journey is now over but his life and lessons will be remembered.

Memorials may be directed to the Dane County Humane Society.

The Celebration of Life for Tim occured on July 11th, 2021 at the Olbrich Gardens Atrium, and can be viewed here:https://youtu.be/GW0Oe1MK6UA

Karla Volker published a comment Less than a minute ago. I had been cutting Tim’s hair for at least 15 years. I was fortunate to see him about every 5 weeks to laugh and tell stories. Tim became a friend of mine, we would grab dinner once in awhile. Tim certainly was a no judgement man, never had to think about wether or not to tell him something. He would shrug his shoulders at the craziest of stories like he had heard it many times before. I miss our heart to heart chats, and laughing at how ridiculous we could be. Miss ya dearly Tim.

It was a real pleasure to know Tim and to have worked with him during his entire career with Humana. If Tim was having or had a bad day you would have never known it. He was very kind and gentle soul that knew all of as people we all on separate journeys through life. Tim was non-judge mental towards all and saw the best in all of us. Rest In Peace Tim.

Tim was not only my 'work brother' but my friend. The team work we had will never be matched and is missed on a daily basis. The Ohio market lost a great one. May you enjoy endless Tony Packo"s and crème brulee! Thank you Marcus - Tim truly appreciated your help.

I am a broker in Ohio and had the pleasure of getting to know Tim through Humana. While we never met in person, I felt like I knew him. He was as dependable as he was kind. I hope he got the card I sent him so he knew I cared. Rest in peace, kind sir.

Our condolences to the Trapp families. It’s been 50 years, but I remember our neighborhood friends and games like yesterday. We enjoyed a great childhood in our little neighborhood. The best of times were playing Risk, Clue, Dart Guns, football, get the guy with the football, and tree climbing! Rest well Tim.
