Nancy Fancy
19 de septiembre de 1946 - 16 de noviembre de 2023
19 de septiembre de 1946 - 16 de noviembre de 2023
Nancy Lee Fancy, a devoted wife, cherished mother, and beloved friend, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2023, at the age of 77. She was surrounded by her loving husband and children as she embarked on her eternal journey.
Nancy was born September 19, 1946, in Albany, California, to Lieutenant Colonel General P. Hefley (Army, retired) and Charlcie Hefley. Growing up in a military family, she traversed various places, living in Texas, Kansas, Germany, Virginia, and Puerto Rico before settling in Oklahoma.
Her path led her to Oklahoma State University after graduating high school in 1964, where she met the love of her life, Steven Fancy. They married August 31, 1968, in Stroud, Oklahoma, flourishing into 55 beautiful years of marriage (Nancy thoroughly enjoyed over five decades of jokes surrounding her rhyming moniker “Fancy Nancy”). Together, they were blessed with three children: Kim, John, and Karen.
Beyond being a devoted wife and mother, Nancy found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was an avid reader, relished her husband’s meticulously tended rose bushes, and found solace in observing birds and hummingbirds. Her love for singing, particularly the hymns she cherished from church, filled her heart. An ardent supporter of her alma mater, Oklahoma State University, she always cheered for the Cowboys.
Yet, above all, Nancy loved and treasured her family. Her kindness, selflessness, and unwavering support were pillars of strength for her loved ones. She was patient, loving, and always encouraged us to do our best. She loved being a grandmother and was delighted by her grandkids’ growth, milestones, and extracurricular activities, always trying her best to attend games and recitals, despite the distance that separated them.
Her unshakeable faith in God was the cornerstone of her life. As a devoted member of the Vancouver Church of Christ, her faith illuminated her path, guiding her to be a beacon of love and kindness to all.
Nancy leaves behind a legacy of love and grace and her memory will be forever cherished. Her life was a testament to faith and the enduring power of family, and we will honor the legacy of a remarkable woman who made a lasting impact. While we mourn her physical absence, we find solace in knowing that she has embarked on a beautiful eternal journey in the loving embrace of God. Her spirit will continue to inspire and guide us, keeping her memory alive in our hearts.
Nancy is survived by her husband of 55 years, Steven Fancy, of Vancouver, WA; brothers Bob (Paula) Hefley of Tahlequah, OK and Paul (Carolyn) of Owensville, MO; her children Kim and Dale Sheehy of Waco Texas , John and Spring Fancy of Corvalis, Ore, Karen Fancy-Godino and Rueben Godino of Pasco, WA; grandchildren Brenden & Hannah Sheehy of Waco, TX, and Cale Trulson of Pasco, WA.
She is preceded in death by her father, Lt. Col. G.P. Hefley and her mother, Charlcie Hefley.
Services will be announced at a later date.
