No regrets
Gary was much loved.
He lived a full life with many different adventures that lead him to meet so many different people.
He was a soldier, leader, friend, father, husband, son and brother.
Gary enlisted into the Coldstream Guards on 10th January 1989, (just 17 years of age) as a junior soldier. He served in Northern Ireland, Bosnia, Iraq, Afghanistan and the first Gulf War. He also served in Germany and UK mainland, finally retiring as a Warrant Officer class II holding the post of Regimental Quartermaster Sergeant at the Regimental Headquarters of the Coldstream Guards (Wellington Barracks) after an exemplary 24 year career.
He was appointed to the Body Guard in 2017 and was on duty for both Queen Elizabeth II funeral and the Coronation of King Charles III
This page is not only for Gary but for his children, Henry and Izzy who were his life.

When was a time Gary made you laugh?
We laughed together until 6am… then remembered we had a run in 1hr. Running drunk wasn’t so funny. Miss you man

Gary - Jamaica-1998

Gary was a much loved part of our family as a great man to be married to my wife Jane’s niece Sarah. Whenever we met as two couples, Gary and I would nod to each other and just kept drinking wine while the girls chatted continuously. He was indeed a fine man, fab company, very sociable, a lovely father to Izzy and Henry and a loving husband to Sarah. Always immaculately turned out his military training combined with his strong personality ensured he was admired and loved by us all. He was a credit to the British Army and his family. Like all of us, Jane and I are struggling to process the fact that he has been taken from us in the prime of his life, we loved him then and we love his memory. Gary is gone but lives in our hearts. God bless you mate.

What did we say when we met up on civvy Street after an age...Best 6 weeks of our lives that Canada trip, it all got serious after that ffs but we did have fun that summer of 1990. Nearly got me shot by a severely pissed off Mountie but hey 🤣. Life has lost a true gentleman. The epitome of a Coldstreamer. My friend. I'm deeply saddened. 💂 From Neil Payne
