Born November 11, 1936 in Waynesburg , PA to Lenora Porter Myers and Charles Myers, he was a caring and attentive husband, father, grandfather, brother, son and friend. He was a hard worker, possessed noteworthy mechanical proficiency and enjoyed working with his hands. He loved opera music, playing musical instruments, singing, camping, hunting, gunsmithing and being a private pilot. Dick's passion was flying and he loved flying the aircraft he built. He served in the Air Force and was a retired insurance agent. "When once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return."-- Da Vinci. He was preceded in death by his first wife Phyllis Stacy Myers, his parents, his sister Ellen Myers and brothers Charles Myers and Harold Myers. Survivors include his wife and "sweetheart" of 40 years, Karen Masters Myers, brother Jim Myers, his children, Brent (Lois) Myers, Gregg Myers, Juli Gerimonte and Todd (Leslie) Myers, 10 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, brother in law Steve (Katie) Masters, sister in law Schella (Richard) Padilla as well as many nieces and nephews. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a man of great faith, integrity, humility and discipline who set a wonderful example to family, friends and his community. ============================================ ** His most favorite sayings were the following: * He who reads the Scriptures oftenest will like them the best. * It is possible to do the right thing for the wrong reason. * If we do all that we can, the Lord always takes up the slack. * The answer to our prayers depends upon our liberality to the poor. * We need to do the onesies, twosies and threesies: have our prayers, read the scriptures, attend our meetings, etc. if we expect to make the Kingdom. * The Prophets are always telling us something and we are always saying, "it doesn't apply to me." * We have what is right, all we have to do is share it! * It is impossible to be a fanatic about the truth. * Education is valuable only if it changes our conduct. * Only if you are unafraid of truth can you find it. * The more work, pain and suffering we put into things the more we appreciate them. * There is no way we can get the Lord in our debt. So why are we afraid to live better and receive greater blessings? * The more Commandments we live the more we get. * We spoil so quickly -- we toughen so slowly! * God has given us all the tools to build a fantastic eternity and some of us are just sitting around watching T.V. God doesn't expect us to do better -- he requires it. * One of these days we are going to wish we did. * When you are addicted to anything; Sports, Soap Operas, Chocolate, Caffeine or anything you are voluntarily giving up your agency. It is the Gospel of gratification. You are making a spiritual wimp out of yourself if you give up your freedom just so you can scratch a few worldly itches. * I don't like rubber words like "try" or "maybe"; words you can stretch to mean anything you want. * We need to live the Gospel strictly as the Lord expects us to do and stop watering it down with rubber words. * We need to have an Attitude of Gratitude. * We rationalize "this one time won't hurt anything" and we bend the rules. * How many of us have fasted out of gratitude and thanks and not just to ask for more? * We need to look out the window once and awhile and see where our spiritual car is going. * We all have our comfort zone we don't want to be taken out of. We're going to have to move out of it if we want to be comfortable for eternity. * Do we spend a lot of time searching for happiness in iniquity? * Satan will see to it that serving God is always inconvenient. ******* -Extreme Thank You goes to Rod Cameron for writing these down from Gospel Doctrine class.
