happiness is a place between too little and too much
Mika Jay Wenham, 18, of Colorado Springs, passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2024. Born in Denver to Amy Leanne and Christopher-Ray Wenham, Mika graduated from Discovery Canyon (DCC) High School in 2024 with honors. After high school, Mika attended Colorado State University, was studying to be a Child Psychiatrist, and received straight A’s.
Mika was a spiritual, compassionate, and creative individual who loved animals, hiking, going on drives in the country, swimming, and art. Mika was passionate about making a difference in the lives of others who struggled with mental health and those that were not easily understood. A very talented artist, Mika enjoyed creating expressive furry characters in drawings, pictures, badges, and even wearable costume heads. Mika also enjoyed Furry Gatherings, where young artists can wear costumes to show off their artwork while hanging out in parks to talk and be free of judgement.
Mika is survived by his wonderfully accepting and loving brother, Tyler Richard; his amazingly supportive and championing Mother Amy; his always present and proud father Chris; his beloved ESA (Emotional - but I would say Essential - Support Animal) cat Koda, and our other three and four-legged family members: dogs Connor and Sweetsie, and new terrors of the manor, kittens Phoebe and Monica.
We will be holding a celebration of life service for Mika, on 11/8/2024 at the secret window in monument CO from 1-4.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Black Forest Animal Society, http://bestfriends.org , Colorado Springs, Co. 80908.

Mika was one of the best friends I’ve ever had. He had a contagious laugh I’m especially gonna miss, and the cutest smile. He also raised the best cat ever & a few big healthy plants. Mika was so intelligent, handsome, goofy and kind. The kind of person who always knew what to say. Thank you so much for everything Mika. Rest in peace

I have tried to write this three times, and each time I cannot get the words right. I finally realized that it's impossible to get the words right. You can tell so much from someone's sketchbook. Mika had tremendous talent, yet had no idea how talented he truly was. I poured over his sketchbooks with utter amazement at the complexity. Sketchbooks are a window into the person. His had layers, colors, darkness, and light. Words and images, vulnerabilities and personal truths. Sketches are where an artist dreams. They are places where we get lost, or plan, or empty ourselves. His were full of meaning, vision, purpose, collapse and expansion. They were not simple. They were celebrations of complexity and variation, and of what it means to be human. I was amazed by Mika's presence. He was a gracious, kind, stoic person and I know his family loved him very much. My heart aches for all who of us who will miss Mika, but my heart also celebrates that he was here, for a short time, to share his light.

I’ve tried writing this for weeks, but sometimes you just have to give in to your feelings and let the words be what they are. . Mika was my grandson, my hero, my love. We shared so many wonderful conversations, some filled with tears but most with laughter. Mika was such a warm and loving person, who loved games with the family, drawing and creating. He loved his family and friends and would always take time to return a text to his Granny D. I will always cherish our times together and his loving heart. Mika your granny D misses you so much. I love you forever and will wait for you in my dreams. I love you Rest peacefully Mika. ❤️❤️❤️

We were lucky to watch Mika grow up through the years. My best memories are all the days outside just living life, playing, being curious, inventing games to keep themselves busy and especially watching Mika’s moves on his skateboard! You will be dearly missed kiddo xoxo Love Brian, Christine, Maci, Arlo and Evan
