I first met Smithy many many moons ago in the very early 90's when we both worked at SAFEWAY.
Then of course I'd bump into him in The Grosvenor or The Cork.
He was atop fella always up for a laugh and a yarn.

Such a sad loss but heres to remembering good old times of playing the golf machine in the Grosvenor, drinking until close and ending on a triple Pernot, to more recent and slightly more sensible evenings.
What a kind, generous, fun loving and all round great guy. You will be deeply missed mate.

Our family met Smitty in Cuba in 2014.. we instantly fell in love with his crazy wardrobe and accent.. we spent a lot of the week with him and at end of our trip he sent my hubby home to Ontario with one of his "shite shirts..

My oldest friend, you lived life to the full, always with a wry smile (and fag) on your lips. We've had monumental times together, so much laughter (and beer). We've gone through life together with an irreverent attitude, our conversations were both mature and immature depending on our moods and surrounding idiocies. 33 years of friendship Dave, I'm numb, devastated and heartbroken. We always joked how you'd go like Olly Reed, beer in one hand, bird in the other. Buggered that one up didn't ya??? I keep expecting my phone to go, you asking me to join you at the owl for a beer.

Well....what can I say....a absolute legend!!! An amazing friend and god father to my daughter Chloe....such memories I have of him, smiffy was full of fun and craziness...a walk down the beach would always end with a shout from the cork balcony...coming for a drink!!
I have had many drunken nights with smiffy and laughed so much it hurt!
I booked many of smiffy holidays..one of which was booked whilst he was under the influence and wasnt rememberd the next day!
Every boxing day he turmed up with gifts galore....knowing exactly what the in 'thing' was for the kids!!! My boxing day will never be the same again.....smiffy No one will ever replace u....u were a true one off...they certainly broke the mould when they made u
