Susan Rex

1972 - 2022
Memorial sponsored by Firstrust Bank
Susan Rex passed away peacefully at age 49, after a prolonged illness for the last several years. Susan was a dear colleague and friend who had just marked 23 years as a Firstruster, and I know we will all miss her more than words can express.
Like so many of us, Susan was one of the first people I met when I came to Firstrust back in 2006. Quite simply, she loved it here – she was one of the people who embodied our culture in every way, and she was a wonderful ambassador for our organization who made everyone feel welcome, supported, and seen. She lived her commitment to Firstrust in so many important ways, including how she stayed connected and in touch across Firstrust as people moved through their careers with us. You didn’t just see Susan in training or at orientation – although she was always diligent about giving our teams the best experience in those things. But she also was simply there for us, in ways big and small, both personally and professionally. Her loss will be felt perhaps most keenly in our Community Banking team, where she was a tireless champion of ensuring our branch folks had everything they needed to deliver a superior customer experience, and in Human Resources, where she was a trusted colleague and friend who was always willing to step in or step up when needed. But that is not to minimize that her loss belongs to us all.
Susan was a bright light in demonstrating grace, vulnerability and serenity as she battled her disease. She took true pleasure in the times that she felt well enough to return to us and the job she loved during her illness, and she engaged in conversations with many of us about her experience and what was in her heart. These interactions were gifts for all of us fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to engage in them.
Susan’s partner, Britt, was a source of strength, comfort and love to her throughout her illness and was with her when she passed. We will continue to support Britt through this sad time.

I am have been overwhelmed by the generosity of those that have donated to Natural Lands in Susan's Memory. I am happy to say it looks like we are very close to getting a memorial bench for Susan at Stroud Preserve. If you have been thinking about donating but have not yet I encourage you to do so. Here is a picture of the type of beautiful bench that we are trying to get for Susan. Thank You, Britt https://natlands.org/in-memory-of-susan-rex/

Dear Susan, You were one of a kind. I knew that from the first moment I met you. Thank you for sharing your passion and love for Firstrust, your love for outdoors adventures (even suggesting some of the locations you thought I would enjoy), your personal time, laughter and knowledge. Even your snacks! You are truly missed and loved. ❤️ my heartfelt condolences to Britt and your family.

The world has lost a bright light. When I started at Firstrust Susan was one of the very first people I met. She was introduced as being a key person for her knowledge. They neglected to mention her great, funny and down to earth personality. Susan grew to become a true friend of mine. I will miss her greatly as will Britt, her friends, family and colleagues. God bless Susan. You will be missed by everyone you touched.

I loved Sue. Very intelligent, great sense of humor and understood the finer points of sarcasm. She will be missed!

Susan was a wonderful person with a big heart. We met in high school and became fast friends. It is so sad to hear of her passing. My deepest condolences to her family. May your smile shine as bright in heaven as it did on earth, my friend!

You were always the first one to lend a helping hand, graciously allowing me to use you work space when I visited Whitemarsh. You were always there for whatever was needed. Rest in peace my dear friend. You will be profoundly missed.
