Loved Ones

John Joseph Sasuta, a man whose life embodied joy, laughter, and unwavering devotion to family and friends, was born on May 11, 1949, in Chicago Heights, Illinois.  He planted roots in Crete for 52 years where he lived a very full life. John loved to laugh, his life was a celebration, and so shall be his memoir.

John was a person of diverse interests. He sported an enthusiasm for football, auto racing, a fondness for fishing, and a love of cooking. His vocabulary was unmatched due to the crosswords he did everyday.  More than anything else, he loved spending time with his family and friends, often accompanied by a cold beer, warm laughter, and stories to last a lifetime.

John loved sports, especially watching football.  Bowling and softball played a role in John's early life, reflecting his competitive spirit and his love for having fun. But, amidst the laughter and games, the core essence of John's life was his family. A loving husband to Faye Sasuta, a caring father to Lisa Ricci and John Lawrence Sasuta, a proud father-in-law to Dave Ricci, he was the epitome of love and care.

John experienced the joy of being a brother to Daniel Sasuta, Mary liakos, Georgiana Easton, and Bernadine Cameo. His mother Ann Sasuta, showered him with love and values, shaping him into the wonderful man he was.

The sparkle in John's eyes would shine the brightest around his grandchildren. Damon and Evan Alexander, David Lawrence Ricci, and Mia Sasuta.  They filled his life with happiness and satisfaction.

John breathed his last breath on September 30, 2023. However, he continues to live in the hearts of his loved ones. His laughter will echo in the family gatherings, his love will always be felt in the warmth of his home, and his memories etched in the hearts of all who knew him. Let us celebrate John Sasuta, a man who taught us to live, love, and laugh unconditionally.

May he rest forever in peace.

RIP JOHN SASUTA MAY 11th 1949 - SEPTEMBER 30th, 2023 I would like to thank everyone that came to pay their respects to my father yesterday, and for all the cards, flowers and kind words. It was overwhelming to see how many lives he touched. It was a packed house, and he loved each and every person in that room. My dad had a heart big enough to hold us all. He was a man who taught me the importance of a good work ethic. His last wishes were to go back to work. He taught me that confidence in yourself is your greatest asset, if you don't believe in yourself why would anyone else? He taught me to be strong, but always humble and kind. Every little girl deserves a man like John in her life. I'm grateful and blessed to have had him. I won the lottery when God chose me to be his daughter. I have no regrets, there were no words left unsaid. He knew I worshipped the ground he walked on and loved him more then life itself. The alley behind 1618 Austin will never be the same. I used to say he was like the spider waiting for the fly out there. If you stopped by his garage you might as well cancel everything for the whole day because you were spending it with John. John gave everyone a warm welcome and a cold beer, it was hard to leave! He was a brilliantly funny storyteller, who always lent an ear and shoulder to cry on. He was ALWAYS there if you needed him. My Dad was a good friend. The best. The world is going to be a very different place without John Sasuta. He will be terribly missed. He was one of a kind. May he rest in eternal peace. I hope he's drinking a beer with Jerry, and dancing with Grandma Ann. Cheers to you John, you deserve everything heaven has to offer. Love to you all, Lisa ❤

My neighbor and friend of many years will be sorely missed. My heart goes out to his wife Faye and children. I am sure when he gets in heaven he will meet up with his good friend Jerry Hunter and heaven will never be the same! He lived a good life. God Bless
