Jean Ryburn Wayne

My friendship with Jean began in 1970, my first year of teaching, at Cresson School. She "took me under her wing" and provided support, direction, and friendship through the years we taught together. After her retirement we would still meet socially....and this continued even after Jean moved to Arizona. So I have been blessed with Jean's friendship for about 50 Years! Jean & Bob threw great house parties. One of my favorites had a Spanish theme as they had just returned from a vacation from Spain. Yummy paella was served, sangria flowed, and several attendees serenaded with their guitars, Jean included! Their Christmas parties were also a Hoot. When I think of Jean I think of her wonderful traits like compassion, genuine caring and listening to how you are doing, giving warm supportive advice, and of course...her beautiful giggle and smile, loved her sense of humor. Jean was a reader and loved to share good books and what she learned from the philosophy of various authors. She was always asking "what have you read lately?". I treasure a small, navy blue and gold, porcelain limoges dish of hers that Jean gave to me, "Here I want you to have this". And on one occasion, at which point Jean was living in Arizona, her children threw a surprise birthday party for her at a local Mexican restaurant. They had little tin boxes with mints inside and Jean's beautiful big smiling face on top! That treasure sits on my desktop so every day I get to see my friend. Love You Sweet Friend , Marie
