Gene enlisted with the U.S. Air Force in 1966 and was honorably discharged at the rank of Staff Sergeant in 1974. Gene is remembered by family and friends for his talented wood-carving skills, ferocious protection of his family, passion for ocean diving, story-telling, fixing things, and for his volunteer work with the Santa Fe Animal Shelter. In lieu of flowers, loving donations can be made in Gene’s memory to the Espanola Animal Shelter (https://www.espanolahumane.org/donate/).
