Long before the internet existed, the world already had a vivacious, fun-loving trend-seeking INFLUENCER couple named BEN HUNG and his beloved Kammie. Can't have one without the other. They were in the groove testing the hype given to the happening entertainment hot spots for music, singing, dancing, dining. Ben, with his sensual baritone voice, was dubbed the "ELVIS of the EAST" since he was from Hong Kong. Both he and Kammie were food gurus who sampled new menus before epicurean critics could opine a review. This sagacious twosome were excited to surprise me with their newest discovery whenever I came home from New York City. Who could forget Ben's wide grin, big round eyes and infectious laugh. His whole face crinkled when he made a joke. I stayed in their son Barron's old room. Ben and Kammie took me everywhere, even to his sister Pansy's house where I met the HUNG side of the family. Ben cooked breakfast for the grandkids. He was the strong one through Kammie's final years. He even continued the tradition of remembering my birthday. That's the kind of guy he was--generous, caring, thoughtful, and kind. Ben had such a zest for life! When I moved to Lahaina, I would call and say, "Hey Ben, it's the Lahaina Connection!" Now there's no more Lahaina, there's no more Ben. It's just me. I feel sad. There's nothing good about losing such a great guy, except that he and Kammie are reunited, creating fun mischief and making merry again. Farewell dear Ben. Be our Star in the sky and light our way. Thank you for the years. Aloha. Lynette Chun October 23, 2025

What words would you use to describe Ben?
Ben was a very good dancer, and made a lot of us happy. I have always looked forward to dancing with Ben especially the waltz and foxtrot. Sadly Ben has left us way too soon, we bid him a fondest farewell.

Nalani China
I joined Ben, Barron and Waiman for swing dancing once. Ben was an experienced dancer but patient enough to dance with me, a beginner. I am impressed and inspired by people who choose to find joy in life, to find joy in activities and the people that are around them. His personality is memorable to me because he seemed to choose to live a joyful life.
