Barbara Hunt McCann Ignaszewski

Barbara Hunt McCann Ignaszewski passed away peacefully on June 26, 2022. Barbara was born on September 24, 1936, in Elmira, NY, to Chester G. and Mary Elizabeth Hunt McCann. She grew up on her parents' farm ‘Oakleigh' with her younger brother Chuck in Rock Stream, NY, where the daffodils and brown-eyed susans grew in abundance. She graduated from Dundee Central School in 1954. After attending Rochester Business School for two years, she worked for American Bridge and then Streeter Associates in Elmira. In 1959, she married her high-school sweetheart Raymond J. Ignaszewski. They had three sons-Scott, Jeffrey and Gregory. Barbara was a giver who lived her life nurturing others. She volunteered at the Corning Hospital, served as a leader at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Corning for over 40 years, and planned several high-school reunions. She will always be remembered with love by her husband Raymond Ignaszewski, children Scott Ignaszewski (Colleen Berry), Jeffrey Ignaszewski (Jenny Odom) and Gregory Ignaszewski (Julie Shaw), four grandchildren Ryan, Caitlyn, Emma and Abby, and four great grandchildren, Andrew, Mackenzi, Ryliegh and Cooper.
