Jim’s family created this memorial to honor his life and share the memories we have with him. Jim was a lifelong professor, mentor, and confidant to so many people, and the impact of his kindness and wisdom reached far beyond the university. He lived by the principle of eudaimonia, the concept of human flourishing. This consisted of living life not only to the fullest but also with reason and virtue. That belief was not only something Jim taught but also something he truly lived by every day. 

 

Here, we encourage you to share your memories of Jim by writing a short story, sharing a photo, or submitting a video. After sharing, please join us in reading the stories and enjoying the memories others have shared about Jim and all the ways he touched our lives. 

 

Everyone will be welcome to join us for a Celebration of Life Ceremony in a few months (Late January). Details will be shared in the events page here as soon as they become available. 

 

In lieu of flowers, Jim has asked that donations be made in his honor to help support his children’s educational journey. These gifts will go toward Jim’s children and their schooling, helping carry forward a future that meant so much to him. For a man who dedicated his life to education and guiding others, supporting his children’s learning is a deeply meaningful way to remember him. Jim’s family is grateful for every expression of love, every kind word, and every contribution made in his memory.
