It is with deep sadness I must announce that Dave Sims, my husband, my dearest friend, my lover, my soulmate has died suddenly and unexpectedly after a short illness. He died on Sunday, 18th May 2025 in St. Joseph's hospital in Hamilton. Dave had many friends in the area. Some knew him from his successful career with Bank of Montreal. Many knew him from his passionate interest in classic British cars and his long involvement in running the annual British Car Day show. Dave and I shared many interests including a variety of outdoor activities and a deep love of travel. Together we visited a wide range of countries on all seven continents where he developed a keen passion for photographing the local wildlife - particularly the many big cat species.
Dave and I grew up in England where we met and married. In 1977 Dave accepted a job with BMO and we emigrated to Canada, landing in Edmonton in February that year. His advancing career required us to move around Alberta for a number of years before a further promotion saw us transferred to Toronto in 1989. After a number of varied roles Dave retired in 2010, as did I, and since then we have enjoyed our hobbies to their fullest extent. Dave leaves behind a dear sister, Ann, and her family who all remain in England. A private cremation has been arranged. There will be a Celebration of Life later where all his friends will be warmly welcomed. Should anyone wish to make a memorial gift, a donation to Diabetes Canada would be much appreciated.
