She will be long remembered and adored.

Biographie

Sandra Adams Wolfe passed away shortly before her 81st birthday on January 26, 2021. On the final night of her life, a rare, heavy blanket of snow fell on Lakeport, CA, and enveloped the town in a peaceful quiet. We felt as though the world paused to acknowledge the end of the earthly time of a lively spirit.

Many of us will recall gathering in her home for holidays or football Sundays. If it was Christmas or Thanksgiving, folks would be drawn to her kitchen for a warm chocolate chip cookie or a taste of oyster stuffing. She’d happily provide a sample and then chase you out of the kitchen with a smile and a few stern (possibly choice) words. If the Patriots were playing, folks likely heard halftime stories of her days of making venison steaks and beer-infused pancakes for family hunting trips up at “the cabin.” She didn’t mention that she was wearing go-go boots while at the cabin stove, but pictures show she would hunt and fish with well-coiffed hair and the latest attire. All who knew Sandy can conjure a memory of her fierce devotion to family and lasting beauty.

Some of us will continue to wonder at the magic of her green thumb that coaxed dazzling blooms from azaleas and hydrangeas. She spent countless hours tending her yard, including a lovely hill of mostly purple irises that she planted to memorialize her husband of nearly twenty-five years. Her indoor ferns and lilies flourished for decades despite the average short lifespans of most house plants in the hands of more novice gardeners. Her steady faithfulness was made evident in those thriving plants.

Still others may recollect the gorgeous and cheeky radiologist whose warmth solicited laughter and trust from patients even during times of distress. Sandy was proud of her profession in Nuclear Medicine that closely parallel her father's career as a doctor and mother's career as a nurse. Her final moments were spent in the care of the hospital where she spent twenty years serving others.

Sandy’s life will be celebrated by her adoring friends and family who will gather on Friday, February 5th. A virtual event is planned and detailed on her memorial website: https://www.mykeeper.com/profile/SandraWolfe/

Sandy will always hold a special place in my heart. She has been a part of my life since before I was born...in fact, I probably would never had been born if she hadn't encouraged my parents to meet. (My mom was Sandy's hairdresser (and good friend) and my dad was painting the inside of her house.) When my mom was pregnant with me, Sandy told her "you're going to have a little girl, she's going to be born on Pat's birthday (7 years apart), and when they grow up they are going to be married." I was 7 the first time I heard that last part of the story...7 years old and I was betrothed to a crazy teenager twice my age...I was so scared because even at 7, I knew not to argue with Sandy! (My mom assured me later that she was joking...sort of, haha) Sandy told me once that, since she had boys, I was the daughter she never had. I'll never forget how special she made me feel.

We always loved visiting Sandy over the years, she was so much fun to hang out with, hear stories from, and just BS with. And she had a much more "colorful" vocabulary than we normally got to hear.
Halloween at Sandy's was a tradition that we never missed. She ushered us into the house as soon as we got there, she admired the costumes our mom had made, we took pictures by the fireplace, and then she dumped 5 lbs of candy into each of our buckets, haha. One year after I was home from college I decided to head up the hill to show off the costume I had made (just like my mom always had) and I knocked on the door before I realized the outdoor lights weren't actually on. I figured I was too late, so I got back in the car and called her to let her know to ignore the knock on the door, that it was just me, but that I'd come back to visit another time. When she answered the phone, her response was very colorfully worded, as she informed me that she had called the police because she thought some rowdy teenagers were trying to break in or something! After that I always made sure she was our first stop on Halloween.

When my son was born and we found out he was going to be facing some struggles, she was so supportive. We took Kenny to visit a few times, and she always loved seeing him. Unfortunately, because of Covid, we hadn't seen her in a while. I wish we could've had one last visit. I'm so glad she's not in pain anymore, but she will definitely be missed by us and all who knew her. My thoughts and prayers go out to Pat, Scott, and the rest of the family. Thank you for allowing me to share your mom over the years.

I’m having a hard time finding words...so here’s a photo from Laura’s wedding. Aunt Sandy was suffering physically at this time, but she pushed through the pain to show up for her family. Her love for her family was as fierce as she. She was there for me many times and I will always be grateful for the strength and guidance she shared with me. Sandy loved her boys more than anything. I hope you both may find some peace knowing she is no longer suffering. Rest in peace Aunt Sandy<3

Sandy was more than a customer, she was a friend having been her hairdresser for over 30 yrs. She is now at peace with her love, Phil. She was extremely proud of her boys. Everyone new she was a little spitfire with a heart of gold. Rest in peace my friend.

I was only with Sandy 3 or 4 times in her life but those times were always memorable. Sharon, Sandy's sister is my best friend and I will always remember the time I took her to SF to meet Sandy as they were going on a cruise the next day. We all had dinner together and at one point, Sandy went up to the bar to get a drink. She didn't come back for quite a while as the bartender was very cute! It was such a fun night. I'm so glad to have the few memories of her that I do. Rest in Peace Sandy.

Sandy lived her life unapologetically, with strong opinions but an even stronger backbone. Her fierce light is not diminished with her passing, merely spread among us. I promise to use my share wisely. Rest In Peace beautiful lady, you are neither gone nor forgotten.

Sandy was my little sister.
She was feisty, full of life, and fun to be with.
She was extremely organized.
Sandy had a pattern to her life, such as wash clothes on Friday, iron on Saturday, watch football with Pat on Sundays, her day off.
She loved to entertain and was a wonderful hostess. If one put down a half filled glass down, it would be instantly refilled.
She was strong and had the courage of her convictions.
After Phil died, she worked and raised two boys to be men of character.
I love you, Sandy and miss you.
Shamie
