Recuerdos

This page is in loving memory of Steve Sheng Lee,李勝和, beloved friend, father, grandfather (阿公) and husband. We lost Steve in the small hours of the morning on April 13, 2021. For those who knew him, they might remember his endless (often shamelessly bad) jokes, or they might know him as a big storyteller, a fearsome opponent at the Sandy Senior Center ping-pong table, or as the guy with endless energy and zest for life, as well as curiosity to meet the world and people around him. Born in 1948 in PuZi, Taiwan, Steve ended up on the other side of the world, living his life as an adventure, going wherever the world would take him. His philosophy worked. He was (mostly) unstoppable. A lover of travel, he managed to survive many fearless street food decisions, despite his wife Rosa's many warnings. Please share your memories with us here, be they inspiring, funny, thought-provoking or anything else. Thanks for being a part of our shared journey.

Dear Mei-Ju and family: We're so very sad and shocked to get this message. Thinking of you, at this time of loss. We had been so charmed by Sheng-Ho's witty senses of humor, honesty, and intelligence, plus his willingness, without the slightest hesitation, to help others. When life bumped, his simple words set pillars and encouragement for us. We're honored and blessed to have known Sheng-Ho. He was truly a blessing in our life. Wish him rest in peace. Sheng-Ho will live on in our memories forever. Our deepest condolences. Yu-Wen, Der-Shing, and Michael from Taipei, Taiwan 2021/04/27

Posted on behalf of Miranda Chen Although we grew up 2000 miles away in New York, my mother and Aunt Rosa, her first cousin, and Uncle Steve maintained a close ties and later Katherine and I became good friends/ second cousins at Penn and in NY. I first remember meeting Uncle Steve in SLC airport in 1997. Uncle Steve and Aunt Rosa were so warm and generous, they were happy to meet their east coast relatives at the airport terminal even if it was just for a few hours as we readied to transfer for Vancouver. They even brought Katherine in hopes of us all developing a deeper connection. Uncle Steve and Rosa welcomed me and my family into their lovely home throughout the years for winter skiing (2008), summer hiking before Peter's wedding (2012) and as a spontaneous pit stop from Yellowstone (2015). This is where I learned of his inventiveness (multi patent holder) and athleticism (table tennis grand master, cross country trekker ). In reading this site and learning more about Uncle Steve, I see many of the same qualities of generosity, scholarship, curiosity and sportiness in Peter and Katherine (and Emi). Uncle Steve- you will be dearly missed... until we meet again for the next great adventure.

We are so grateful to have known Steve as a neighbor and friend. We moved into the Misty Meadows Cul-de-sac 3 years ago. Steve and Rose came and introduced themselves immediately and made us feel very welcome. After that, they would always stop by and make time to ask how we are doing. I'm so grateful for Steve's example of how one person can make such an influence for good to so many people by being kind and generous.

Rest In Peace, Steve, you and Rosa 養了一對wonderful 的皃女。
