Mia L Greer, was a brilliant, compassionate soul whose presence illuminated the lives of all who knew her. She was the beloved daughter of Annalie and Darryl, and a cherished member of a loving extended family. Mia’s mind was as expansive as her heart — she dreamed of earning a PhD in mathematics, and her love of learning was matched only by her fierce commitment to justice, ethics, and truth.
Mia’s passions were many and deep. She was a voracious reader, a lover of anime, and a connoisseur of music and film. She memorized Poe’s “The Raven” and could debate current events with clarity and conviction. She adored animals, delighted in visiting her friends, and found joy in the company of those she loved. Her loyalty, wit, and warmth made her a treasured friend and confidante.
Mia believed in a better world — one grounded in equality, realism, education, and care. She lived those values every day, not just in what she said, but in how she listened, questioned, and stood up for others. Though her time with us was far too short, her impact was profound. She leaves behind a legacy of love, intellect, and moral clarity that will continue to inspire all who were lucky enough to know her.
Mia cared deeply about children suffering from the violence of war. If you so choose, Mia's preferred charities included:

Mia was one of my closest friends. We spent hundreds of hours together in middle and high school. I had lost touch with my friends from that time, but she would always make sure to check in on me. I learned about the loss while playing one of her favorite games, "Dark Souls 3", while I was talking with her favorite NPC "onion bro". I was laughing and thinking about her, looking forward to her next message. Our last one ended so casually, and there's just so much pain. I'm going to miss her and my support goes out to family and friends. May she rest in peace...

All we have left are treasured memories. We always looked forward to seeing where your journey would take you and now we are heartbroken that your journey has ended far too soon. In our grief we can only take comfort in looking back to the shared times we were together, which were mostly in your childhood. Some of these keep playing over in our mind. You impressed us and touched on our shared love of music when you would sing complete songs word for word for us. “Taking Care of Business” and “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” are two favorites. We were so in awe that such a young kid could memorize all of this. The time you went from nervous and skeptical to accepting and having so much fun allowing us to teach you to swim in the beautiful waters of Cape Cod. Thank you for that. It meant so much. Your creative writing was beyond your years and we loved when you shared your cool stories. You were clever & funny & still make us laugh. There was a time when we were traveling in the back seat of the car together and as you were vying for attention you were crazily kicking the back of your dads driver seat and as annoying as it was nobody acknowledged it. You finally burst out “Can somebody please tell me to stop kicking the back of the seat!” (Kent still says it to this day when HE wants attention). You grew up, you were brilliant, mathematics were your passion. Such a loving, caring, complex soul. As we mourn your loss we believe you are at peace and without pain. We love you Mia.

When Mia talked about mathematical theory, it was like her mind saw and understood a wonderful world that was invisible to me. She described concepts that I could only glimpse and patterns that unfolded to her. These concepts had been discovered and shared by unusual minds many years before her, and would continue and evolve years in the future after her. In her exploration, I imagine that she connected with bright minds from years ago, like Margherita Beloch Piazzolla and Eugenio Beltrami, who’s energy continued and was expanded by new students like her. Mia, I believe, is part of this continuum of shared thoughts, a bright energetic world of evolving mathematical theory that exists outside our bodies, and continues to evolve with future scholars. Mia’s mind and soul were greatly loved and nurtured, and her absence in our lives is heart-breaking. I am so very sorry for everyone's loss. Sending my sincere condolences. -Samantha

As her great aunt and uncle, we remember our visits with Mia as a child when s/he was called Brenny. We have some quirky memories- of Mia seriously playing computer games with mother Annalie, insisting on a menu of white food and being delighted with her colorful bearded lizard pet. It was always a pleasure to be with her. We admired the love and devotion of her parents as they guided Mia through some difficult school years and into college and we were proud of the early academic accomplishments in her study of mathematics. Mia’s life was cut tragically short. We will greatly miss learning about her exploits and adventures as she traveled her road to adulthood. The world will miss her intellect and the contributions it could have made. Friends and family will miss her wealth of knowledge and passion for the things she cared about. We hope Mia is free now from the troubles that beset her; may she rest in peace.

I heard you passed away a month ago and I havent been the same since. I remember visiting your family when we were teenagers, hanging out everyday. Those were some of the best memories I have of growing up. I remember an observation you made about the acronym IRL, and whenever I use it I think about you and what you said. Thank you so much for those memories. I hope that, wherever you are, you finally found peace and are free to be yourself. We love you Mia, rest in peace.

These past few weeks have been a struggle of pain, loss and sadness. All for Mia, my beautiful niece, whom I have identified with so much. From her procrastinating ways, and her quiet introspection, to her love of books and movies. Recently, I have reflected often on Oscar Wilde’s vision of a beautiful death. For death has “no yesterday , and no tomorrow . To forget time, to forgive life , to be at peace.” My most fervent desire is that Mia is now at peace. You will forever live in my soul, Mia, a “perfect sanctuary which even death cannot destroy.” (Nan Whitcomb)
