October 29th, 1949 - April 26th, 2020
Jean (Jiin-Huan) Wu Jiang, age 70, passed away in her home in Phoenix, Arizona, on Sunday, April 26, after her courageous battle with breast cancer. Born in 1949, in Chiayi City, Taiwan, she taught English before marrying Kuo-shii Jiang and moving to Canada, eventually settling in the United States. In Frankfort, Kentucky, they raised two daughters, Gloria and Connie, and she continued to live there for a total of over 30 years. After the deaths of her husband and her mother, she moved to Phoenix, Arizona, in 2012 where she and her two daughters were reunited. Jean enjoyed shopping, gardening, working in her yard, going out for dim sum and spending time with her grandson. She liked to stay busy and active. Her open and outgoing spirit made her popular in every neighborhood she lived in, and she made many lifelong friends in both Kentucky and in Arizona. She was an incredibly generous person who was known for gifts of “lucky money” and $2 bills during Christmas and special occasions. Jean was independent, strong-willed, full of contradictions and steadfast. Jean will be remembered for always speaking her mind, for offering help freely but rarely taking it for herself, and for a lifetime spent as the anchor and devoted caregiver for her family. She is survived by her two daughters and their spouses—Connie Jiang and Michael Pearce, Gloria and Jonathan Wirth, and one grandson, Drake Wirth.

I knew Jean the very first time was when I learned from a Lexington friend that A lady from Taiwan lived in Frankfort was in the Lexington hospital taking care of her husband with cancer. I went to the hospital and visited her and her husband, introduced myself and offered her to stay in my house at night if necessary. I brought lunch so we ate together. After that, we became good friends and her mother became good friend of my mom. We missed her so much after she moved away that at the end of 2012, my mom, my husband and me visited her in Phoenix. Last year(2019) , we went visit her again with two other couples from Lexington. We miss her and she will always in our hearts. I am sure she is in a better place now under Buddha ‘s care . Gloria, Connie , please accept my condolences , and take care of yourself and your family. I appreciate her true friendship and forever loving hearts for the last 25 years.

We were best friends and neighbors. We both immigrated here from other countries and always had that in common. She was a giving person and when she moved away from Frankfort Ky., I missed her very much. I will always hold her in my heart.
