Goodbyes are not forever, Goodbyes are not the end, They’ll simply mean I miss you until we meet again

Fred (Dad) was the best and the most hardworking person I have ever witnessed in my life. He is the man that has been with me on the worst days and best. He is the man who used to pick me up from the front of the school gate when I was just a kid and take me to wimpy for our favourite treats (knickerbocker glory  and brown derby) . When the sun came out he would always take me to the burgus Park and swing me around the pond, as I looked into his eyes I knew I was safe, secure and always protected by the strength he always showed.

He was one of the lambeth lads that was always ready to rumble in the ring, never backing down, even when he was call to join the army. He served for his country in the navy fearlessly, always speaking of  his adventures and all the moments that changed his life forever.

He became a black taxi driver with the public carriage office at the tender age of  21 and fell in love with serving the public. He was a true Lover of London and all of the changes it brought over the 50 years he served as a cab driver. He worked happily 7 days a week and never moaned not 1 bit, untill he was diagnosed with dementia and had to give up his licence.

He is a successful man but he never realizes that. He tries to help everyone and anyone every single day, and not once asked for anything in return. He tirelessly worked so hard for the sake of giving a better life to his family, friends and the people he served in his taxi. He was never satisfied with himself and thought that everything could have been better, but never realised what he has given to us is the best. His efforts that he continually gave to us, was what mattered and will continue to matter every day he is no longer with us.

He had a childhood with a lot of hardships (growing up in WW2 , being sent away form his parents and loved ones for months on end) but he never give up nor did he ever teach me to. He has taught me to win. He has taught me to be honest. He has taught me some biggest life lessons that will live with me until we meet again.

He is the man I look up to every day, the man that always told me (we are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking up at the starts) I will forever look up at you shining on me, and I will always endeavour to walk as you walked day by day.

Thank you Dad for being one in a million to us all.❤️

Our favourite place❤️ “One, two, three, say cheese grandad!” ... “I am smiling” he says trying his hardest to compose and hold the straightest face possible, until seconds later as we slowly turn to look at each trying not to burst into laughter, but you get us every time granddad!
