Françoise Fetchko

7 novembre 1945 - 18 mars 2023
Early on March 18, Francoise Fetchko, nee Lagoutte, passed away at her home in Bryant Pond, ME. One of five sisters and a native of France, she came to the United States in 1968 where she soon met and married her husband of 54 years, Peter Fetchko. Together, Peter and Francoise made their life in Salem, MA, raising their two children, and where she volunteered at the then-named Peabody Museum. A child of small village bakers and cafe owners, she was generous and hospitable to all who graced her family’s home with delicious food and a lively table. An avid gardener with a very green thumb, she later turned rocky soils in the mountains of Maine into productive gardens that would feed her, Peter and countless friends and family as if they ran the world’s finest restaurant. Later in life she tapped deeper into her creative talents and became an accomplished painter who displayed her work at numerous galleries in the region. She leaves behind her husband and two sons Nicolas and Sebastien, daughter-in-law Lisa, and grandchildren Gabriella and Greyson, as well as sisters Noëlle, Babeth, and Brigitte, and extended family in the United States and France.

Dear Peter, Sebastian, and Nicholas, John Ashworth shared you will have a memorial for Francoise this weekend. I will be thinking of you all even though so many years have passed since we shared time together…the most memorable in Maine….arriving by snowmobile pickup, handed a robe before the stomp to the hot tub, then a beyond delicious meal Francoise made for us at the Russian fireplace…. Then delicious conversation and contented sleep…you orchestrated the best in life. I’m sending love to all of you….Kim Pedersen
