My grandpa was the kindest soul I ever met. He brought joy with him wherever he went and made every situation fun and joyful. I will always remember whenever he drove me to school and would laugh at me always sticking my head out the window. I will cherish every Christmas I had with him and when he would dance with me and say he was the world's greatest dancer. He was such a joy in my life and whenever I needed cheering up, I could count on him to make me laugh. There's not a day that will go by where I won't miss his light-hearted personality. I promise that I will forever carry everything he taught me into the real world. I will always look back on the memories I made with him, and I will love and appreciate him forever. He was such a great role model and forever will be. Rest in peace, Grandpa. I love you.

David always made me laugh out loud at his corny, funny jokes. (Ro would say, you don't have to laugh at his corny jokes.) After a joke, I would roar with laughter. When I was finished laughing, he would turn his head slightly toward me and share a slight chuckle and smile. Then we both would laugh out loud all over again. Making people laugh is a treasure. He was a treasure that will certainly be missed.

During my senior year of high school, we had moved from Gardena to Yorba Linda. I made the basketball team, and it was my first home game in front of a packed Gym. Nervous, I came off the bench and had a very good game. I realized there wasn't anybody there I knew until after the game a familiar face walked up to me. That face belonged to Uncle Dave. He had watched the whole game! I will always be grateful to him for making an awkward situation right. Years later, I played with Uncle Dave in an adult basketball league. Enjoyed playing with him. Thank you, Uncle Dave.

I have never had the good fortune to meet David, but what I can only imagine from hearing his amazingly strong daughter Robyn, his presence is larger than this world could have ever witnessed. I imagine him to be a gentle soul, never doubting his intention of always finding the good in people. I stand by your family like anyone else - we grieve together and we laugh together. And I’m certain David was all about the laughter, despite this awful grief. My condolences.
