I met Cathy after the death of her son, Bill, who was my friend and colleague. I was privileged to become Cathy's friend in the years following Bill's death. Death is not extinction: it is a new beginning, and Cathy is well on her way.

Cathy was admired by those close and from afar. I noticed how she cared about many things at the same time and literally took time from a busy life to smell roses. A wonderful woman who left footprints everywhere.

Santa Paula has lost one of its greatest treasures. We were fortunate to live next door to Cathy and Carl on Forest Drive for 50 years from 1963. I think my Dad may have seen Cathy B heading out with a tennis racket and that was the deciding moment to purchase the house next door! She was truly remarkable. The epitome of a life well-lived. And such a gracious hostess. The Barringer family will always be part of my treasured Santa Paula memories. I smile knowing the the stars in the sky will be a just a little bit brighter with Cathy's astonishing spirit joining their heavenly ranks. Much love to each and every Barringer from the Kings.

My family, the Russell Kings, was Cathy's neighbor since 1963, when I was in high school. One of the reasons we bought on Forest Drive was Cathy -- my father admired her from the start. Her family was a great attraction and part of our quality of life while my parents were both alive until 2016, when Mom died. Cathy moved to the Ventura Townhouse and was there for a time with my Mom, Molly King. Cathy really enjoyed living there and made it her home and entertainment center. I have always admired Cathy's social graces, her intuitive knowledge of how people felt and wanted to be treated. I really still can't believe she's left us. Wherever she is, she is an asset. I loved her graceful spirit and that will stay with me always. Margaret J. King, Ph.D.

Dear ones, it is hard to imagine a world without Cathy. My deepest empathy to Christy and Rick and to the extended Barringer family, who she loved so deeply. I have no doubt that her beloved soul is rejoicing in its reunion with Carl, Bill, and Bob. We were blessed and honored to have known her, one of the great ladies of Santa Paula, hostess and nurturer to all, and to have been her next door neighbors for 50 years on Forest Drive. She is legendary.

Cathy Barringer was a beautiful person, inside and outside. She was a dear friend of my Mom, Barbara Procter. They shared many happy times together, playing tennis and playing bridge. It was always a treat to go to the Barringers' home because Cathy made you feel so welcome, so loved. As a bonus, Cathy and I shared a birthday on August 20 and for years we exchanged cards. My love to family and friends who were as lucky as I have been to be in Cathy's orbit.
