Billy "Bill" Floyd Carpenter

Billy (Bill) Floyd Carpenter, age 88, passed away on September 28, 2025, in Merced, CA. He was born on August 5, 1937, in Ward, West Virginia, throughout his life lived in Bellview, NE; Merced, CA; Tecopa, CA; Bloomington, IL.

Bill served as a military police officer in the United States Air Force for 20 years, and also worked for Foster Farms for 20 years.

While stationed at Bunker Hill Air Force Base in Kokomo, IN, Bill met the love of his life, Nancy. The two were married for 64 years and raised three sons together: Randall Carpenter, Chris Carpenter, and David Carpenter.

Bill’s life was defined by his love for his family and friends. He was known for his love, kindness, generosity, and unwavering support for those around him.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Homer Carpenter Sr. and Opal Kirk Carpenter; his sister, Emma Damron; his brothers, Homer Carpenter Jr., Larry Carpenter, and George Carpenter; and his son, Randall Carpenter. 

He is survived by his devoted wife, Nancy Carpenter; his brother, Jack Carpenter; his children, Chris (Lyn) and David (Grazyna); six grandchildren—Eric, Van, Bryan (Liz), Lane, Xavier, and Karolina; and eight great-grandchildren—Sophie, Addison, Andrew, Izabella, Penelope, Trevor, Mateo, and Nolan.

His memory will live on in the love and memories shared by his family.

A funeral service for the family will be held on October 24, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery.
