Souvenirs

To my loving Father

Dear Dad,

There’s so much I want to say, so much I still need to share with you, but somehow, words feel so small compared to the vastness of my love for you. I miss you every moment, and my heart aches in ways I never knew it could. You were the person who always knew how to calm my fears, lift my spirits, and guide me through life's toughest challenges.

I want you to know that even though you're no longer here with me physically, you will never be gone from my heart. Your wisdom, your kindness, your strength—these are the gifts you've given me that I carry with me every single day. Every memory, every lesson, every laugh we shared is engraved in my soul. You've shaped me in ways I can't fully express, and I will continue to make you proud, even though you're not by my side.

It’s hard to imagine a world without you, but I’ll keep going, carrying your spirit with me in everything I do. I’ll keep fighting, just like you taught me to, and I’ll keep loving with the depth and passion that you showed me every single day.

I hope you’ve found peace, Dad, but know this: part of you will always live within me. I love you more than words can ever say. I will hold you in my heart forever.

Until we meet again.

With all my love,

Aboy Ninu!

Ah uncle why you do me like this now? You left us suddenly and unexpectedly. I so wanted to see you in September last year when we visited Nigeria for my dad's birthday. But you were unwell and couldn't make the trip to Benin. It's been a decade since I saw you last, but fondly remember you as our big Uncle when I was a young child and you lived with us in Benin during your university years. You were always kind to us. I didn't see you much after that but I know how close you and my dad were. I can hear you call out Oya! It's been a joy connecting with your lovely children in recent years and I see you did a great job in raising children who value family as we have spent several joyful occasions together. It's like I know you all over again through them. Adieu Uncle Onwordi, till we meet again, rest in perfect peace in the bosom of our Lord. Your cousin Susan x

Your words may have been few, but your kind smile created a lasting impression of warmth and welcome. Not even the grip of illness could steal that gentle expression. You showed incredible magnanimity throughout his sickness, always willing to share a moment of levity. We will fondly recall his jovial spirit, calming presence, and your friendly heart. Your sacrifice to provide for your children, no matter the personal cost, is a testament to your uncompromising love. I will forever remember you as a good and kind man whose impact will endure. May your gentle soul rest in peace.

FAREWELL UNCLE. When we were kids in Lagos, my sister often took us to visit you and your family after Sunday services. My brother and I always looked forward to those visits, which gave us a warm place to spend time with cousins and created lasting memories. I had planned a surprise visit to see you in Nigeria, hoping we could reconnect and relive some of those cherished family moments. But before I could make the trip, I received the heartbreaking news of your passing. We wish you had more time with us here on earth, but we trust God’s timing and cannot question his will. You are deeply missed; your memory will remain with us until we meet again. Nnamdi, Jindu, Ada, and JJ, take comfort in knowing your dad was incredibly proud of you, and I believe he appreciated the love you showed him while he was with us.

Dearest Uncle and Daddy,🤗 "Uncle, you were more than just an uncle to me; you were more than Nna Nnamdi to us . We called you Daddy , you were a father figure, a guiding light, and a shining star. Your passing at 70 years leaves a gaping hole in our lives, but your legacy of love, wisdom, and kindness will continue to inspire us. Your counsel was always sought and cherished, your discussions were enlightening, and your advice was invaluable. You were truly a family man. You had a gift for understanding and a heart full of empathy. Your presence was a blessing, and your absence is deeply felt. I will truly miss our conversations, your laughter, and your warm smile. But even in death, I wish you eternal rest and peace. May your journey to the world beyond be gentle and joyful. I pray that we meet again, where love and memories never fade. You were a pillar of strength to our family, always caring, supportive, and full of life. Your love, wisdom, and spirit will continue to guide us. Rest well, dear uncle. You will never be forgotten."
