Anthony "Tony" Michael Canton
16 mars 1941 - 2 septembre 2024
16 mars 1941 - 2 septembre 2024
Anthony “Tony” Michael Canton, 83, of Oro Valley AZ, peacefully passed away on September 2nd surrounded by loved ones.
Tony was born on March 16, 1941 to Irving Jess and Suzanne Kerman Canton in Washington, D.C. Tony is a graduate of The Grove School in Connecticut and the Universidad de las Americas in Mexico City with stops at Fort Lewis College during college and Georgetown for Masters work thereafter.
While Tony’s education was primarily focused on international relations, his career was focused on retail, merchandising and promotional marketing. His life and career took him around the world and led to friendships spanning the globe.
Tony was predeceased by his parents Jess and Suzy. He is survived by his wife, Candy, his son, Boughty, his sister, Margo, his granddaughter, Annika, and a world filled with great stories he lived and loved to tell.
Tony was a great lover of animals and in particular horses and dogs. If you feel compelled to make a financial gift, please find a worthy organization that supports animals near you.
That said, if you knew Tony, you knew that he loved stories about lived adventures, heck you probably lived an adventure or two with Tony.
This memorial is designed to help not only remember Tony but also to memorialize those stories. We've primed the pump a bit in the Life & Mementos section (make sure to click “read more” to get the full story). If you have the time, please spin a yarn or two in Tony’s honor in the Tributes section. Here are instructions if you need them.

My first memory of Tony was at a Beta event. He was completely comfortable with a bunch of strange women (that doesn’t sound right). This was an event that Candy helped organize and Tony gamely participated. 😊 A very easy going guy. Although I didn’t interact directly with Tony, I loved hearing the stories from Candy. And what I appreciated most about Tony was that while he was having health problems he encouraged Candy to stay active and live life. In friendship, Virg Diebold
