Recuerdos

David Chester Necker was born in Philadelphia, PA on June 22, 1944 to William C. and Jane Waldis Necker. He passed away on January 18, 2025.

David graduated from Finneytown High School in Finneytown, OH in 1962.

He obtained a Navy scholarship and graduated from Pennsylvania State University in 1967 with a degree in architecture. During a 4th year study abroad program, he was a student at the Architectural Association in London, England in 1966. After graduation, he joined the US Naval Civil Engineer Corps with a specialty in contract administration. He served four years, during which time he was attached to a Seabee unit on Guam.

His first job, after completing his Naval obligation, was as an Architectural Associate with the architectural firm of Turner-Rome and Cotton in Corpus Christi, TX from 1971-1972.  He then worked for Caudill Rowlett Scott (CRS) in Houston, TX where he served as Vice President from 1972-1982. During that period, he was transferred to Denver where he was instrumental in building a number of elementary schools for the Cherry Creek School District. When he was asked to return to Houston, he submitted his resignation from CRS and made Denver his permanent home. He joined ISEC (then known as Intermountain Specialty Equipment Co.) as Vice President of Operations in 1983. He retired from ISEC in 1993. After five years of retirement, he started his own firm, CDR Consultants, providing services as an expert witness, arbitrator and mediator from 1998 - 2009.

An organization that meant a great deal to David is the Bega Littleton Sister City organization. His first trip to Australia in1994 resulted in multiple subsequent trips and enduring friendships Downunder.

Another was Bringing Music to Life, an organization that collects donated instruments, repairs them, and awards them to low income students who might otherwise not be able to play in a school band or orchestra.

Civic involvement was important to David. He was appointed to the Castle Pines North Master Association’s Board of Directors and was on the Homeowners’ Association and Architectural Control Commission of his neighborhood.

David and his wife, Anne, loved to travel. David enjoyed planning the trips almost as much as he loved taking them. Interested in art and architecture, he sought out museums and iconic buildings wherever they traveled. He was a devotee of Frank Lloyd Wright, having visited many of his homes and buildings throughout the U.S. One of his proudest accomplishments was designing and building the prairie style home where he and Anne lived in Castle Pines, CO.

He was also an accomplished photographer. Every year, his Christmas card was a sketch of a place (usually architectural or historical), he and Anne had visited during the preceding year.

David loved nature and being in nature. Camping, hiking, skiing, biking and kayaking were his passions. Whether traveling or camping, he liked to be somewhere where there was water. His favorite thing of all, was napping on a beach somewhere, under a palm tree.

David was a hard worker, extremely well organized, a problem solver and a creative thinker. He was a loyal friend, keeping in touch with many friends in this country and around the world. Most of all, he loved being a Dad and a PopPop. He was devoted to his wife, Anne, his daughter Marin and grandson Asa. He cared deeply for his stepdaughter, Marla (Brett) and their children, Anna and Sarah; and stepson, Nathan (Janice) and their children, Allara and Colton. He was proud of every one of them and revelled in their interests and accomplishments.

A Celebration of Life will be held April 27, 2025 at 2:30 p.m. at Cielo at Castle Pines.  In lieu of flowers, a contribution to Bringing Music to Life would be appreciated.
